Henry Lehmann
Henry Lehmann (August 21, 1929 – February 2, 2000), was the General Manager of General Electric's military systems operations in Syracuse, New York and a philanthropist within the American Jewish Community. Childhood fleeing Nazi Germany Henry was born in Leipzig, Germany on August 21, 1929, the younger of two sons of comfortable German-Jewish parents Marie and Leo. Leo's mother had been born and had lived in Alsace-Lorraine. In 1937, Henry, his parents, and his elder brother René fled the Nazi regime by moving first to Nice, France, where they lived for 18 months, and then to São Paulo, Brazil. In the early spring of 1941, the family received their immigration visa to the United States and settled in New Orleans, Louisiana, home of Leo's cousin Mathile. Congregation Shomrei Emunah ( he, קהילת שומרי אמונה) is an Orthodox Jewish synagogue in the Greenspring neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. Rabbi Binyamin Marwick is the synagogue's rabbi. History The synagogue was founded in 1971 by Lithuanian-born Rabbi Benjamin Bak, who led the congregation from 1972 until 1989. Bak was succeeded by Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, who served as spiritual leader for 13 years before becoming head of the Orthodox Union in 2002. Under Weinreb's administration, membership increased from 140 to 450 families. Rabbi Dovid Gottlieb, who received his rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, served as spiritual leader until making aliyah in 2009. Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School is a private community Jewish day school in Baltimore County, Maryland. It encompasses preschool through twelfth grade. The school has one campus in Pikesville. GreenSpring Computers was started in 1984 as VME Specialists. The original product focus was VMEbus cards for industrial automation. The company was founded by Leonard Lehmann and his father Henry Lehmann in Redwood City, California, United States. Change of name Around 1988, the company changed its name to GreenSpring Computers. The AN/FPS-117 is an L-band active electronically scanned array (AESA) 3-dimensional air search radar first produced by GE Aerospace in 1980 and now part of Lockheed Martin. The system offers instrumented detection at ranges on the order of and has a wide variety of interference and clutter rejection systems. The system was originally developed as part of the "Seek Igloo/Seek Frost" effort to replace the older radar systems of the DEW line with designs that could be operated remotely and require much less maintenance as part of DEW's replacement, the American-Canadian North Warning System (NWS).
