Henry Killigrew (diplomat)
Sir Henry Killigrew (c. 1528Bell pp. 189–190 – 1603) was a diplomat and an ambassador for the Kingdom of England in the sixteenth century. He was several times employed by Elizabeth I in Scottish affairs and served as one of the English appointees to the Council of State of the Netherlands in the Dutch Republic, United Provinces in 1586 and 1587–1589. He served as a Member of Parliament for Newport & Launceston in 1553, for Saltash in 1563, and for Truro in 1571–2. Career He was the fourth son of John III Killigrew (d.1567) of Arwenack, the first Governor of Pendennis Castle, of an old Cornwall, Cornish family, by his wife Elizabeth, second daughter of James Trewenard of Trewenard. He was probably educated at Cambridge, but there is no definite information on the point. Henry Killigrew (playwright)
Henry Killigrew (11 February 1613 – 14 March 1700) was an English clergyman and playwright. He became a chaplain to Charles I of England, Charles I, and chaplain and almoner to James, Duke of York (the future James II of England, James II). Following the English Restoration, Restoration, he became Master of the Savoy. Life Killigrew was born in Hanworth on 11 February 1613, the fifth and youngest son of Robert Killigrew and his wife Mary Woodhouse. He was the brother of the dramatist Thomas Killigrew and of Elizabeth Killigrew, Viscountess Shannon, mistress of the future Charles II of England, Charles II. He was educated at Cripplegate, London and at Christ Church, Oxford, graduating Bachelor of Arts, B.A. 1632, Master of Arts (Oxford, Cambridge, and Dublin), M.A. 1638, Doctor of Divinity, D.D. 1642.
