Henny Eman
Jan Hendrik Albert "Henny" Eman (20 March 1948 – 6 January 2025) was an Aruban politician who served as the 1st Prime Minister of Aruba from 1986 to 1989 and again from 1994 to 2001. Introduction Jan Hendrik Albert Eman, simply known as Henny, was born in Aruba on 20 March 1948. His grandfather (also known as Henny Eman (AVP founder), Henny Eman) founded the Christian Democratic Party Aruban People's Party (AVP) and is considered pioneer of Aruba's political Status aparte from the Netherlands Antilles. His mother was Jewish and his father was Protestant. His father, Albert Eman, better known as Shon A Eman, carried on the AVP's leadership banner. The Aruban People's Party (AVP; , ) is a Christian-democratic political party in Aruba founded in 1942. AVP is an acronym for the Dutch name of the party. At the 2001 elections in Aruba, elections, on 28 September 2001, the party won 26.7% of popular votes or 6 out of 21 seats. On 23 September 2005, the party won 38% of the popular vote or eight out of 21 seats, making it the largest opposition party of the nation. In the 25 September 2009 election, the party came to power, winning 48% of the popular vote and 12 of the 21 seats. It held a majority in the Estates of Aruba obtaining 13 seats.
