Heng Chee How
Heng Chee How ( zh, s=王志豪, p=Wáng Zhìháo; born 1961) is a Singaporean politician, union leader and former police officer who has been serving as Senior Minister of State for Defence since 2018 and Deputy Secretary-General of the National Trade Union Congress since 1999. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Whampoa division of Jalan Besar GRC since 2001. Prior to entering politics, Heng had worked at the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). He made his political debut in the 1997 general election as a solo PAP candidate contesting in Hougang SMC against the Workers' Party's Low Thia Khiang. Khaw Boon Wan
Khaw Boon Wan (; born 8 December 1952) is a Singaporean former politician who served as Minister for Transport between 2015 and 2020, Minister for National Development between 2011 and 2015, and Minister for Health between 2003 and 2011. Fitzwilliam College is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. Whampoa Single Member Constituency
Whampoa Single Member Constituency was a single member constituency (SMC) located in the eastern region of Singapore. The constituency covers the main area of Whampoa. In 1968, Whampoa Constituency was formed by carving out of Kallang Constituency. In 1988, it was renamed as Whampoa Single Member Constituency as part of Singapore's political reforms. It existed for another term till 1991 when it was abolished and divided into Kampong Glam Group Representation Constituency (GRC), Jalan Besar GRC and Toa Payoh GRC. People's Action Party
The People's Action Party ( abbreviation: PAP) is a major conservative centre-right political party in Singapore and is one of the three contemporary political parties represented in Parliament, alongside the opposition Workers' Party (WP) and Progress Singapore Party (PSP). Initially founded as a traditional centre-left party in 1954, the leftist faction was soon expelled from the party in 1961 by Lee Kuan Yew in the midst of Singapore's merger with Malaysia, desiring to move the party's ideology towards the centre after its first electoral victory in 1959. Choo Wee Khiang ( zh, s=朱为强, p=Zhū Wéiqiáng) is a Singaporean former politician. A former member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he was the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Whampoa division of Jalan Besar GRC between 1997 and 1999. Choo resigned from both the party and Parliament before being convicted for corruption. Jalan Besar Group Representation Constituency is a four-member Group Representation Constituency composed of several city suburbs surrounding the Central Area of Singapore. There are four wards in the GRC: Kreta Ayer- Kim Seng, Kolam Ayer, Whampoa and lastly Kampong Glam.
