Nona Hendryx
Nona Bernis Hendryx (born October 9, 1944) is an American vocalist, record producer, songwriter, musician, and author. Hendryx is known for her work as a solo artist as well as for being one-third of the trio Labelle, who had a hit with "Lady Marmalade". In 1977, Hendryx released her self-titled debut solo album, a commercial failure that resulted in Hendryx being released from her recording contract. In the early 1980s, Hendryx sang with experimental funk group Material (band), Material, achieving the hit "Bustin' Out (EP), Busting Out". Material produced her second album, ''Nona'' (1983), containing the modest Top 30 R&B and Dance charts hit "Keep It Confidential". The album cut "Transformation" became a Hendryx signature song. In 1985, Hendryx wrote and recorded the Grammy nominated song "Rock This House" with Keith Richards from her fourth solo album ''The Heat'' (1985). Timothy Green Hendryx (January 31, 1891 – August 14, 1957) was an outfielder in Major League Baseball who played with four different teams between the 1911 and 1921 seasons. In an eight-season career, Hendryx was a .276 hitter (356-for-1291) with six home runs and 192 RBI in 416 games, including 152 runs, 68 doubles, 22 triples, 26 stolen bases, and a .372 on-base percentage. Early life Hendryx was one of six children born to William, a stonecutter, and, Nancy. He was born and raised in Le Roy, Illinois, then moved to Jacksonville, Florida. There, he began his professional baseball career in 1911 with the Yazoo City Zoos of the Cotton States League. James Beardsley Hendryx, (December 9, 1880 – March 1, 1963) was an American author of western fiction. Life and career James Hendryx was born in Sauk Centre, Minnesota in 1880. He attended local schools in Sauk Centre and went to the University of Minneapolis for two years. He worked as a newspaperman in Springfield, Ohio and was a special writer for the ''Cincinnati Enquirer''. He also worked at various jobs including salesman, tan bark buyer, cowboy, and construction foreman. He was a prolific writer finishing over 40 novels and several short stories. He also wrote one screenplay. All of his work was in the western fiction genre. He set most of his books in Canada, Alaska, or Montana. His novels portrayed Canada as a lawful and orderly place with reliable police and civilized court system.
