Hendrik Saar
Hendrik Saar (pseudonyms Kivilombi Ints and Sulgnokk; March 8, 1893 – 1944) was an Estonian journalist, caricaturist, playwright, and clown. Early life Saar was born in Laatre parish in the Põhja-Ruhja district of Valmiera County. He was the son of Villem Saar (1850–?) and Ann Saar (née Ilves, 1865–1954). Career In addition to working as a journalist, cartoonist, playwright, and clown, Saar also performed as a cathedral singer and stage actor. He translated operetta texts and theater jokes, and he staged his own plays. In 1919, together with Gori, he started publishing the humor magazine . He also served as the editor of several other humor magazines in Tallinn— (1919), (1920–1921), (1920s), and (1929–1930)—and of the film magazine ''Kino-Film'' (1927–1928) and the erotic magazine (1931). Laatre
Laatre is a small borough (') in Valga County in southern Estonia, located about 16 km northeast of the town of Valga. Between 1992 and 2017, until the 2017 administrative reform of Estonian local governments, Laatre was the administrative center of Tõlliste Parish. Georg Ots (21 March 1920 – 5 September 1975) was an Estonian baritone. He sang at the Estonian National Opera from 1951 to his death in 1975. Sangaste
Sangaste () is a small borough () in Otepää Parish, Valga County, southern Estonia. Sangaste has a population of 228 (as of 1 January 2010). Sangaste castle Sangaste castle or manor () traces its history to at least 1522, when it was part of the estates of the bishop of Tartu. The current building was built in 1879-1883 and designed by architect Otto Pius Hippius. It is built in a neo-Gothic style with influences from Tudor architecture, and considered one of the most impressive examples of Gothic Revival architecture in the Baltic States. Several original interior details have been preserved to this day. The manor house was unusually modern for its time, equipped with central heating, telephones in 1896, and electric light in 1907.
