Henderson State University (HSU) is a public university in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, United States. Founded in 1890 as Arkadelphia Methodist College, Henderson has an undergraduate enrollment of around 2,500 students. The campus is located on . History Henderson State University is the only university in the State of Arkansas to have been controlled by both church and state. It is also the only public university in the state to be named for an individual; it was renamed for Charles Christopher Henderson, a trustee and prominent Arkadelphia businessman, on May 23, 1904. Benzyl chloride, or α-chlorotoluene, is an organic compound with the formula . This colorless liquid is a reactive organochlorine compound that is a widely used chemical building block. Battle Of The Ravine
The Battle of the Ravine is an American college football rivalry game played annually by Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University. The football rivalry game is tied for the oldest rivalry game in NCAA Division II, alongside the Black Hills Brawl. The current, full title is the "Southern Bancorp Battle of the Ravine". In its earliest days, the game was played on Thanksgiving Day, but now it is played as the last game on each team's schedule. It is a unique rivalry in that the two schools located in Arkadelphia, Arkansas are across the street from each other and the visiting team walks from their own locker room to the other team's stadium. Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) is a Private university, private Arkansas Baptist State Convention, Baptist university in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The university's name is taken from the Ouachita River, Ouachita (pronounced WAH-shi-tah) River, which forms the eastern campus boundary. It is affiliated with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, a state convention affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. History Ouachita Baptist University was founded as Ouachita Baptist College on September 6, 1886, and has operated continually since that date. The Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference (AIC) was an athletic conference in existence from 1927 or 1928 to 1995 affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The conference membership consisted entirely of colleges and universities in the state of Arkansas. History Some references indicate that the league started competition in 1927 while others list a 1928 date. The league seems to have competed in baseball and basketball in 1927-28 and started football competition in 1929.
