Hemang-Lower Denkyira (district)
Hemang-Lower Denkyira District is one of the twenty-two districts in Central Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Twifo/Heman/Lower Denkyira District; until the southeast area of the district was split off to create Hemang-Lower Denkyira District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Twifo-Atti Morkwa District. The district assembly is the northwest part of Central Region and has Twifo Hemang Twifo was an early Akan state established during the initial Akan settlement of the Adansi forest. Twifo/Heman/Lower Denkyira District is a former district that was located in Central Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988, which was created from the former Denkyira District Council. However on 28 June 2012, it was split off into two new districts: Twifo-Atti Morkwa District (capital: Twifo Praso) and Hemang-Lower Denkyira District (capital: Twifo Hemang).
