Helsinki RC
Helsinki Rugby Club (colloquially known as HRC) is a Finnish rugby club based in Helsinki. Founded in 1999, it is the oldest and biggest (in terms of registered players) club in Finland. They currently play in the Finnish Championship League, competing with both men and women teams in XV's and 7's. Teams, club logo and colors HRC comprises three different teams: two men's teams, one in the Championship and one in the Division 2, and one women's team, playing in the Championship. Since 2021, HRC has also launched a youth programme and started the U17 beginners' team, to develop future rugby players and help contributing to the growth of the rugby movement in Finland. The club logo shows the nationalities involved in the formation of the club: Finnish, English, French, South African and Australian. The club colors, blue and white, are taken from the finnish flag. Finnish Rugby Federation
The Finnish Rugby Federation (SRL) ( fi, Suomen Rugbyliitto) is recognised as the national governing body for rugby in Finland. It is a member of several organisations, including World Rugby and Rugby Europe. The SRL was founded in 1968 and has as its members Finnish rugby clubs and the Finland Rugby Referees Association. SRL's mission is to develop the sport in Finland and support the local clubs in their activities. The organisation is responsible for the Men's National XV Team, Men's National Sevens Team, Women's National XV Team, Women's National Sevens Team. The SRL also administers and organises domestic rugby competitions in Finland. Interest in rugby in Finland has increased in recent years and SRL strongly believes that rugby has a future in Finland, where team and contact sports are appreciated. Saimaa ( , ; sv, Saimen) is a lake located in the Finnish Lakeland area in southeastern Finland. At approximately , it is the largest lake in Finland, and the fourth largest natural freshwater lake in Europe. The name Saimaa likely comes from a non-Uralic, non-Indo European substrate language. History It was formed by glacial melting at the end of the Ice Age. Major towns on the lakeshore include Lappeenranta, Imatra, Savonlinna, Mikkeli, Varkaus, and Joensuu. About 6000 years ago, ancient Lake Saimaa, estimated to cover nearly at the time, was abruptly discharged through a new outlet.
