Helsinki Central Library Oodi
The Helsinki Central Library Oodi (; ), commonly referred to as Oodi (), is a public library in Helsinki, Finland. The library is situated in the Kluuvi district, close to Helsinki Central Station and next to Helsinki Music Centre and Kiasma, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art. Despite its name, the library is not the main library in the Helsinki City Library system, which is located in Pasila instead; "central" refers to its location in the city centre. History A design competition in 2012 to build the library was won by the Finnish architectural firm ALA Architects and structural design by Ramboll Finland. ALA Architects won the commission over 543 other competitors. The library was planned to be a three-story building and to include a sauna (which hasn't materialised ) and a ground-floor movie theatre. Seinäjoki Library
Seinäjoki Library ( Finnish: ''Seinäjoen kaupunginkirjasto'') is the municipal public library of the city of Seinäjoki, in Finland. Overview Library provision in Seinäjoki first began in 1865, initially as an adjunct to the local church. By the start of the 20th century it had been taken over by the municipality, and was being run as part of the local school. The first dedicated librarian wasn't appointed until 1960, when Seinäjoki was granted its city status. From 1968 until 2017 the library also served as the South Ostrobothnia regional library, until the regional library network was replaced by a new regional development library (''Alueellista kehittämistehtävää hoitavat kirjasto'') structure. Turku Main Library (, ) is the chief branch of Turku City Library, located in the city centre of Turku, Finland. The library is approximately 8,500 m2. Old building The Turku Main Library 2,900 m2 old building is a Dutch late Renaissance style building, constructed in 1903, built and delivered by Turku commercial counsellor Fredric von Rettig and designed by Karl August Wrede. The design was based on a Swedish House of Nobility in Stockholm. The first floor was a national library for the working class and the second was the city library for Academic staff, academics. These two libraries merged in 1912 to become Turku City Library. This library at the time was the third in Finland. Tampere Central Library ( Finnish: ''Tampereen kaupungin pääkirjasto'') is the main municipal library in Tampere, Finland. It is also known as ''Metso'' ('Capercaillie'), due to its resemblance to the bird, when viewed from above. The library is located along the Hämeenpuisto boulevard in the city centre.
