Helnes Lighthouse
Helnes Lighthouse () is a coastal lighthouse located on the northeastern coast of the island of Magerøya in Nordkapp Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The lighthouse sits on the western side of the mouth of the large Porsangerfjorden, about east of the village of Kamøyvær and about northeast of the town of Honningsvåg. The lighthouse was established in 1908, destroyed during World War II in 1944, rebuilt from 1946–1948, and automated in 2004. A radio beacon was established in 1955 and it emits a racon signal that is a Morse code letter N (– •). The tall white concrete tower has a light on top at an elevation of above sea level. The 1,371,000-candela light emits two white flashes every 30 seconds. The light can be seen for up to in all directions. Porsangerfjorden
The Porsangerfjorden (; ; ) is a fjord in Finnmark county, Norway. Name The fjord is officially named ''Porsangerfjorden'' in Norwegian. It is also known informally as ''Porsangen'', but that is not an official name. The official Northern Sami name is and the official Kven name is . Geography The long fjord is Norway's fourth-longest fjord. It is located in Nordkapp Municipality and Porsanger Municipality and it empties out into the Barents Sea. The large island of Magerøya and the Porsanger Peninsula lie along the western shore of the fjord, and the Sværholt Peninsula lies along the eastern shore of the fjord. Lighthouses In Norway
The coast of Norway is long and there have been a total of 212 lighthouses along it, but no more than 154 have ever been operational at the same time. The first, Lindesnes Lighthouse, opened in 1655; the newest Lighthouse, Anda Lighthouse, was finished in 1932. The first lighthouses were private operations, but in 1821 the government made the Channel and Harbor Inspector responsible for lighthouses in Norway. A dedicated Lighthouse Administration was set up in 1841. The lighthouses are today mostly automated and since 1974, run by the Norwegian Coastal Administration. Two lightvessels had been operated along the Norwegian coast. "Enigheden" off Ålesund from 1856 was replaced with Lepsøyrev Lighthouse in 1879, and "Ildjernsflu" moored off Nesodden from 1914 until it was scrapped in 1968. Honningsvåg is the northernmost cities and towns, northernmost city/town in mainland Norway. It is located in Nordkapp Municipality in Finnmark county. Honningsvåg was declared a city in 1996, despite its small population. The town has a population of 2,245 (2023), which gives the town a population density of . Honningsvåg is situated at a bay on the southeastern side of the large island of Magerøya, while the famous North Cape, Norway, North Cape and its visitor center are on the northern side of the island.
