Helle Sparre
Helle Sparre (born 30 June 1956) is a former professional tennis player from Denmark. She competed during her career under her married name Helle Sparre-Viragh. Biography Born in Copenhagen, Sparre featured in 13 Federation Cup ties for Denmark in the 1970s, including a quarter-final in 1976. She twice reached the third round of the Wimbledon Championships, in 1977 and 1978. Partnering Helena Anliot, she won the doubles title at the 1978 U.S. Clay Court Championships. Sparre lived in California beginning in 1978 and served as the tennis director and head pro at Scott Valley Swimming and Tennis Club in Mill Valley, CA from 1987-2015 . She is the author of ''Dynamite Doubles'', an instructional book for doubles tennis strategy. Sheila McInerney
Sheila McInerney (born February 22, 1958) is an American former professional tennis player. Biography McInerney is originally from Rome, New York and began playing tennis at the age of eight. A former student at the Rome Free Academy, she later moved to Miami to further her tennis and attended Palmetto High School. She received a tennis scholarship to the University of Southern California (USC Trojans) in 1976. As an amateur, McInerney qualified for the main draw of the 1977 US Open and made it through to the third round, where she was beaten in three sets by Billie Jean King. In 1978 she partnered with USC teammate Barbara Hallquist to a runner-up finish in the doubles at the U.S. Clay Court Championships. By the time she graduated from USC in 1980, she had achieved four All-American selections and was captain of the Trojans in her senior year. Barbara Hallquist DeGroot (born May 1, 1957) is a retired professional tennis player from the U.S. She was the first female student to receive an athletic scholarship from the University of Southern California (USC) as a result of Title IX legislation. She played tennis for USC from 1976 to 1979. College titles Hallquist won the national collegiate singles title in 1976 and 1977. She also won four team national championships. She was a four-year letter winner (1976-1979) and a four-time All-American. Hallquist won seven national collegiate tournaments. She was the winner of the USTA singles titles in 1976 and 1977.
