Heledd Fychan
Heledd Fychan (born 20 September 1980) is a Welsh people, Welsh politician and a former director of policy and political education for Plaid Cymru. She was elected to the Senedd for the South Wales Central (Senedd electoral region), South Wales Central region in May 2021. Early life and education Fychan is originally from Anglesey, and is the daughter of the late , a broadcaster, journalist and local councillor — and Angharad Anwyl. Heledd attended and Ysgol David Hughes and then studied History and Politics at Trinity College Dublin where she served as Education Sabbatical Officer at the Trinity College Dublin Students' Union, Trinity College Students' Union, and later as Education Sabbatical Officer for the Union of Students in Ireland. A member of the Senedd (MS; plural: ''MSs''; ; , plural: ) is a representative elected to the Senedd (Welsh Parliament; ). There are sixty members, with forty members chosen to represent individual Senedd constituency, Senedd constituencies, and twenty to represent the five Senedd electoral regions, electoral regions of the Senedd in Wales. Ely, Cardiff
Ely ( from ''tref'', town + , River Ely) is a district and community in Cardiff, Wales. It is to the north of Cowbridge Road West. Caerau defines the boundary to the south as does River Ely to the east and in part to the north. Roman era In Roman times, Ely was the site of a Roman villa, near the old racecourse, and of iron smelting possibly using manganese to harden steel. There is also thought to have been a Roman road near the site linking to Cardiff Roman Fort and eastwards to Newport. 19th century In 1855, the first horse race took place at Ely Racecourse, which took over from the Great Heath racecourse. The Ordnance Survey map from the early 1880s shows just how isolated the ancient Ely village was from the rest of Cardiff. Mick Antoniw
Mick Antoniw (; born 1 September 1954) is a Welsh Labour and Co-operative politician, who was Counsel General for Wales from 2021 to 2024, having previously served in the position from 2016 to 2017. He previously served as Minister for the Constitution from 2021 to 2024. He has been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Pontypridd since 2011. Early life Born in Reading, England in 1954, Antoniw comes from a Ukrainian family, with a Danish mother and a Ukrainian father who sought refugee status in the UK following World War II. Antoniw came to Wales to study law at the Cardiff Law School in 1973. He was President of the National Union of Students Wales from 1977 to 1979. Professional career He was a practising solicitor before his election to the Senedd, specialising in personal injury. Pontypridd (Senedd Constituency)
Pontypridd is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. It is also one of eight constituencies in the South Wales Central electoral region that elects four additional members (along with eight constituency members), to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. Boundaries The constituency was created for the first election to the Assembly, in 1999, with the name and boundaries of the Pontypridd Westminster constituency. Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council () is the governing body for Rhondda Cynon Taf, one of the principal areas of Wales. The council headquarters are at the Llys Cadwyn development in Pontypridd. History The council was established on 1 April 1996 under the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994, covering the area of the three former districts of Rhondda, Cynon Valley, and Taff-Ely (except Pentyrch, which went to Cardiff). As well as taking over the functions of the abolished district councils, the new authority also took over the functions of the abolished Mid Glamorgan County Council in the area.
