Heimkehrer
''Heimkehrer'' (literally "homecomer") refers to World War II German Prisoner of war, prisoners of war and internees—Wehrmacht (German Army (1935–1945), Heer, Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe), Waffen-SS, Ordnungspolizei, behind-the-lines Hiwi (volunteer), Hiwi security and civilian personnel—who were repatriated to West Germany, East Germany and Austria after the war. Some of the late returnees were convicted war criminals who were subsequently tried in West Germany. By 1948, the number of German internees still held in captivity by major Allies of World War II, Allied powers was as follows: *United Kingdom: 435,295 *United States of America: 30,976 *France: 631,483 *Soviet Union: 890,532 German soldiers from the West were returned to Germany by late 1940s; however, the USSR held the last Germans in their camps until 1956. The Institute of Contemporary History (''Institut für Zeitgeschichte'') in Munich was conceived in 1947 under the name ''Deutsches Institut für Geschichte der nationalsozialistischen Zeit'' ("German Institute of the History of the National Socialist Era"). ''Forced'' is a single-player and co-op action role-playing game developed by BetaDwarf, released in October 2013 for Windows, OS X and Linux through the Steam platform as well as Wii U. It is about gladiators fighting for their freedom in a fantasy arena where they are assisted by a spirit-like character called Balfus. Gameplay consists of selecting a weapon class and abilities to combat the various enemies of each arena, while solving puzzles using the help of Balfus. BetaDwarf was formed by a small group of students in 2011, who began developing the game in an unused classroom in Aalborg University – Copenhagen, Denmark. They were removed months later and launched a successful Kickstarter campaign involving an Imgur picture which documented their progress.
