Heer (1955 Film)
''Heer'' () is a 1955 Pakistani Punjabi-language film produced by J.C. Anand, directed by Nazir starring Swaran Lata and Inayat Hussain Bhatti in title roles. The film is based on the Punjabi folktale ''Heer Ranjha'', by Waris Shah. The movie is based on the retelling of the tragic romance of the Punjab in the poem ''Heer Ranjha'' by Waris Shah in 1766. It tells the story of the love between Heer Sial and Dheedo Ranjha who are destined not to be together. Heer was the first Karachi-based Punjabi film. Nazir Ahmed Khan
Nazir Ahmed Khan (1904 26 August 1983) () was one of the founding fathers of Pakistan film industry. He was a versatile filmmaker, actor, director and producer. Personal life Nazir was born in 1904 in a Kakazai Pathan family in Lahore, Punjab, British India. He had at least three wives over the years. He was first married to his cousin Sikandara Begum (who was the sister of K. Asif, the legendary director of 1960 film Mughal-e-Azam). He later had a very short marriage with Sitara Devi, the legendary Kathak dancer. After their divorce, Sitara Devi married none other than Nazir's cousin K. Asif himself. In other words, she married first the husband and then the brother of Sikandara Begum. Nazir's last wife was film actress Swaran Lata. Nazir was the father of several children. Banghra
Banghra is a Spanish pop group formed in 2007 with members Javi Mota, Lidia Guevara, and Victoria Gómez that tried to reintroduce belly dancing and Indian dance music to the mainstream in catchy songs sung in Spanish and English. The band was formed as a project of producer Sergio Medrano (who had produced Monjes budistas). The group disbanded in 2008 after just 2 albums in 2 years, namely ''La Danza del Vientre'' and ''...a bailar!'' and a number of successful singles, the biggest of which was "My Own Way". After split up of Banghra, Javi Mota and Lidia Guevara have both pursued solo music careers. ''Heer Ranjha'' is a 1932 Punjabi feature film, the first movie directed by A.R. Kardar, starring Anwari Begum and Rafiq Ghaznavi in the title roles. It is based on the love story of ''Heer Ranjha'' and the 18th-century Punjabi Sufi poet Waris Shah's epic poem narrating their saga. Rafiq Ghaznavi also composed the music for the film. Hazin Qadri
Bashir Ahmad (9 April 1926 – 19 March 1991), known as Hazin Qadri, was a Punjabi film song lyricist and film screenwriter from Pakistan. Early life Qadri was born Bashir Ahmad in a small village 'Raja Tamoli' near Gujranwala, British India on 9 April 1926. He could not complete his education beyond the elementary or primary school due to poverty. As a young man, he was eager to get an opportunity to try his luck in the then newly established Pakistani film industry after 1947. After two years of struggle, he was given a chance to write his first film song by the veteran film producer and director Anwar Kamal Pasha for his upcoming film Do Ansoo (1950).
