Hector Costita
Hector Costita (born October 27, 1934) is a musician and composer. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. However, he is one of the most famous flutist and saxophonist in Brazilian music. He performed and recorded with Lalo Schifrin, Manfredo Fest, Sérgio Mendes, Zimbo Trio, Hermeto Pascoal, and Elis Regina. Biography Hector "Costita" Bisignani was born in 1934, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is an Italian descendant and started studying music when he was 13 years old. The first instrument he learnt to play was clarinet. When he was 18, he started playing saxophone, influenced by Lalo Schifrin. In 1954, Schifrin invited Bisignani to compose his band. This is considered the beginning of Costita's career. In the second half of the 1950s, Bisignani went to Brazil where he joined Simonetti's orchestra. He never came back to his country. João Donato
João Donato de Oliveira Neto (; 17 August 1934 – 17 July 2023) was a Brazilian jazz and bossa nova pianist as well as a trombonist from Rio Branco. He first worked with Altamiro Carrilho and went on to perform with Antonio Carlos Jobim and Astrud Gilberto. Because of the area he grew up in Brasil he was able to hear Cuban music on the radio. This influence would manifest itself in many of his compositions, piano, and trombone playing. Donato's most well-known compositions include: "Amazonas", "Lugar Comum", "Simples Carinho", "Até Quem Sabe" and "Nasci Para Bailar". Career A professional at the age of 15, Donato played accordion at the Sinatra-Farney Fan Club. He would later learn piano and trombone. Donato recorded for the first time with Altamiro Carrilho. Soon after he joined a band led by violinist Fafá Lemos that played in Brazilian nightclubs. His first solo recording came out in 1953. Wilson Simonal de Castro (February 23, 1938 – June 25, 2000) was a Brazilian singer. He was a singer with great success in the 1960s and in the first half of the 1970s. He was married two times and had two sons: Wilson Simoninha and Max de Castro, both are artists today. He also had a daughter, named Patricia. Although relatively unknown outside of South America, two of his biggest hits were successfully covered by Sérgio Mendes — " País Tropical" and "Sá Marina" (the latter as "Pretty World" with English lyrics by Marilyn and Alan Bergman).
