Hearts Like Lions
Hearts Like Lions was an American indie rock band, and they played an Christian alternative rock, alternative rock music style. Hailing from Long Beach, California and were formed in 2011, they remained a band for the next 10 years. Their first extended play, ''These Hands (EP), These Hands'', was released in 2014, with Tooth & Nail Records. Their single, "Stranger", broke through on the Billboard (magazine), ''Billboard'' magazine Christian Rock chart. Singer Stephen Ramos and drummer Nick Sturz have now gone on to play in their new musical endeavor called WILDER. ''These Hands'' is the first extended play from Hearts Like Lions. Tooth & Nail Records released the EP on December 2, 2014. Critical reception Awarding the EP four stars at Jesus Freak Hideout, John Choquette states, "''These Hands'' is almost painfully short, but if it's any indication, Ramos and company are certainly up to the challenge." Michael Weaver, giving the EP three and a half stars for Jesus Freak Hideout, says, "''These Hands'', sounds exactly like what you'd expect from a good Tooth and Nail band." Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand in the early to mid-1980s. Although the term was originally used to describe rock music released through independent record labels, by the 1990s it became more widely associated with the music such bands produced. Post-hardcore
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Like the term " post-punk", the term "post-hardcore" has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. Initially taking inspiration from post-punk and noise rock, post-hardcore began in the 1980s with bands like Hüsker Dü and Minutemen. The genre expanded in the 1980s and 1990s with releases by bands from cities which had established hardcore scenes, such as Fugazi from Washington, D.C. as well as groups such as Big Black, Jawbox, Quicksand, and Shellac who stuck closer to post-hardcore's noise rock roots. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog) is a broad genre of rock music that primarily developed in the United Kingdom through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early-to-mid-1970s. Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Tooth & Nail Records is a record label founded by Brandon Ebel in California in November 1993. The label later moved to Seattle where it is today. History Brandon Ebel and Michael Knott conceived the label as a joint venture, before Knott backed out. Prior to forming Tooth & Nail, Ebel worked for Frontline Records. Tooth & Nail's first album released was Wish for Eden's ''Pet the Fish.'' In 2002, the label bought out Takehold Records. In 2013, Brandon Ebel sold the Tooth & Nail music catalog to Capitol Christian Music Group (formerly EMI Christian Music Group) and bought back the 50% stake in Tooth & Nail formerly owned by EMI, making it an independent record label.
