Heaney is a surname of Irish origin. It is an Anglicisation of the Gaelic ''Ó hEignigh'', thought to be based on the Gaelic a personal name meaning "horseman". It was mistakenly thought to derive from Éan, Gaelic for Bird. Versions of it are written in the Annals from the 8th century and has a diverse array of modern derivations and origins. Andrew Heaney
Andrew Mark Heaney (born June 5, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in the MLB for the Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Angels, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers. Prior to becoming a professional, he played college baseball for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Marlins drafted Heaney in the first round of the 2012 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Marlins in 2014. Heaney pitched for the Angels from 2015 through 2021, and played for the Yankees in 2021 and Dodgers in 2022. Geraldine Heaney
Geraldine Heaney (born October 1, 1967) is an Irish-Canadian ice hockey coach and former defenceman. She played 18 seasons and over 1,000 games with the Toronto Aeros organization, won six Ontario provincial championships and was named Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) most valuable defenceman on three occasions. The Aeros retired her jersey number 91 in 2006. Internationally, Heaney was a member of the Canadian national team in the first seven Women's World Championships, winning gold each time. Gerald Vincent Heaney (January 26, 1899 – December 26, 1974) was a stage magician and magic supplier from Berlin, Wisconsin, United States. "Heaney the Great" and his magic show toured North America for a number of years during the mid 1900s. Early life Gerald Heaney was born on January 26, 1899, in Berlin, Wisconsin, to John and Agnes Heaney. John Heaney owned a jewelry store in Berlin, one of its earliest businesses. Gerald's interest in magic began at the age of 15 when he met Henry Boughton (Harry Blackstone Sr.). Boughton was preparing for a performance in Berlin and asked the jeweler to create a piece of equipment for him. Neil Andrew Heaney (born 3 November 1971) is an English former professional footballer who played as a winger. Dermot Heaney (born 27 July 1971) is a former Gaelic footballer who played for the Derry county team in the 1990s and early 2000s. Frank Heaney (23 November 1886 – 24 August 1937) was an Irish amateur footballer who played in the Football League for Leeds City as a right back.
