''Health Capsules'' is a comic strip syndicated by United Feature Syndicate since February 20, 1961. The comic panel answers reader's health-related questions, accompanied by a humorous illustration. His work included ''Ticker Toons'' and '' Health Capsules'' (syndicated by United Feature Syndicate), for which he was awarded the National Cartoonist Society Special Features Award for 1978. For 36 years he continuously published and edited the quarterly magazine Cartoonist Profiles. Beginning with its premier issue in the winter of 1969 and ending 36 years later with issue 146 in June 2005, three months before his death. He was also active as a political cartoonist. United Feature Syndicate, Inc. (UFS) is a large American editorial column and comic strip newspaper syndication service based in the United States and established in 1919. Originally part of E. W. Scripps Company, it was part of United Media (along with the Newspaper Enterprise Association) from 1978 to 2011, and is now a division of Andrews McMeel Syndication. National Cartoonist Society
The National Cartoonists Society (NCS) is an organization of professional cartoonists in the United States. It presents the National Cartoonists Society Awards. The Society was born in 1946 when groups of cartoonists got together to entertain the troops. They enjoyed each other's company and decided to meet on a regular basis. NCS members work in many branches of the profession, including advertising, animation, newspaper comic strips and syndicated cartoon, single-panel cartoons, comic books, editorial cartoons, gag cartoons, graphic novels, studio cards, greeting cards, magazine and book illustration. Only recently has the National Cartoonists Society embraced web comics.
