Heads (film)
''Heads'' is an American-Canadian black comedy directed by Paul Shapiro that originally aired as a TV film on Showtime on January 29, 1994. It stars Jon Cryer, Edward Asner, Jennifer Tilly, and Roddy McDowall. Filming took place in Manitoba, Canada. Plot Guy Franklin, a bumbling proofreader at a small-town newspaper, gets promoted to reporter when the usual staffer fails to show for work. When the man Guy replaced turns up dead and decapitated, editor-in-chief Ab Abbot sees it as an opportunity for sensationalist news coverage such as the town has never seen before. Guy is appointed to investigate the murder. When evidence implicates Betty Jo, a waitress Guy is secretly in love with, he attempts to warn her; however, she is also found similarly murdered, along with Fibrus Drake, an eccentric tycoon who had contacted Guy with a tip about the killer's identity. Paul Shapiro (director)
Paul Shapiro (born 1955) is a Canadian television director, producer and writer, who has worked in both Canada and the United States. Life and career He began his career in 1973 on the film '' Life Times Nine'', an anthology of short films by high school students in Toronto which garnered a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 1974. While a student at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, he made the film ''The Understudy'', which aired as a television film in 1976."The Understudy: First Feature From Paul Shapiro". Charlene Fernetz (born March 23, 1960) is a Canadian former actress. She is known for her role as Malloy on ''Street Justice'' (1991–1993). Life and career Fernetz was born on a large farm in the middle of Saskatchewan, Canada and studied journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
