He Bingdi
Ping-ti Ho or Bingdi He (; 1917–2012), who also wrote under the name P.T. Ho, was a Chinese American, Chinese-American historian. He wrote widely on China's history, including works on demography, plant history, ancient archaeology, and contemporary events. He taught at University of Chicago for most of his career, and was president of the Association for Asian Studies in 1975, the first scholar of East Asian descent to have that honor. Ho Ping-sung (aka He Bingsong; Chinese: 何炳松), (1890–1946), was a Chinese historian. Biography Ho was born in Houxi Village, Jinhua, Zhejiang Province in 1890. In 1911, Ho graduated from Zhejiang Advanced College (浙江高等学堂, current Zhejiang University) in Hangzhou. In 1912, Ho went to the United States and studied mainly modern history, economics and international politics. John King Fairbank
John King Fairbank (May 24, 1907September 14, 1991) was an American historian of China and United States–China relations. He taught at Harvard University from 1936 until his retirement in 1977. He is credited with building the field of China studies in the United States after World War II with his organizational ability, his mentorship of students, support of fellow scholars, and formulation of basic concepts to be tested. The Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard is named after him. Among his most widely read books are ''The United States and China'', first published in 1948 and revised editions in 1958, 1979, and 1983; ''East Asia: The Great Tradition'' (1960) and ''East Asia The Great Transformation'' (1965), co-authored with Edwin O. Evelyn Rawski
Evelyn Sakakida Rawski (born February 2, 1939) is an American scholar of Chinese and Inner Asian history. She is currently a Distinguished University Professor in the Department of History of the University of Pittsburgh. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States of Japanese-American ancestry. She served as president of the Association for Asian Studies in 1995–1996. Rawski has written extensively on history of the Qing dynasty, and is considered a seminal figure of the school called the New Qing History. New Qing History
The New Qing History (, sometimes abbreviated as ''NQH'') is a historiographical school that gained prominence in the United States in the mid-1990s by offering a major revision of history of the Manchu-led Qing dynasty of China. Overview The Qing dynasty was not founded by the Han people, but by the Manchus.
