Hazira
Hazira is a suburb and a transshipment port in the Surat City in the Gujarat state of India. It is the west most end of Surat. Hazira is one of the major ports of India and the most important element of Surat Metropolitan Region. The town is known as the industrial hub of India and is located on the bank of the Tapti River, eight kilometers away from the Arabian Sea. Hazira Gas Processing Complex (also known as HGPC) is a natural gas processing plant operated by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation in Hazira, India. History Phase 1 of the plant was commissioned in the mid-1980s, and its infrastructure was designed for receiving natural gas along with associated condensate from the Mumbai High Field, Mumbai High Off-shore Field. Once the condensate is separated and treated in condensate fractionation units, the gas undergoes several stages to extract liquefied petroleum gas and lower its dew point to below 5°C. This aims to prepare it for extended transport via the HVJ Gas Pipeline. John Vaux
John Vaux was the Deputy Governor of Bombay in 1689. In the year 1697, when Vaux, along with his wife, were enjoying a boat ride in Tapti River, River Tapi in Surat, the boat capsizing, capsized. A landmark known as Vaux's Tomb was built at the mouth of the River Tapi. The tomb served as a guide to approaching sailors. Early life John Vaux himself grew up in England, and later served as a book-keeper to Josiah Child, Sir Josiah Child, the former Governor of the East India Company. The 'History of Gujarat' by M. S. Commissariat states that Vaux was on account of his good behaviour made by his master, a supercargo in charge of a ship employed to trade with China. Hazira Port or Surat Port is a deep-water liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal and multi-cargo deep-water port about 20 miles southwest of Surat, India built by Essar Group. It was originally designed as a captive port for Essar Steel. The current container port has been acquired by Adani Group.
