Hayist Bases Movement
Hayist Bases Movement (Spanish: ''Movimiento de Bases Hayistas,'' MBH) was a splinter group of Peruvian Aprista Party that was founded in 1980. Led by Andrés Townsend and Francisco Diez Canseco Távara, the party claimed to be the true heirs of Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre's ideology, as the official party swift to a more populist agenda with the leadership of Armando Villanueva (who lost the 1980 general election to Fernando Belaúnde), and Alan García, with the latter winning the Presidency in 1985. For the 1985 general election, Townsend and the party reached an agreement with the Christian People's Party in order to run as a alliance named '' Democratic Convergence''. Armando Villanueva
Armando Villanueva del Campo (25 November 1915 – 14 April 2013) was a Peruvian politician who was the leader of the Peruvian American Popular Revolutionary Alliance. Born in Lima, his parents were Pedro Villanueva Urquijo, a gynecologist in the city, and Carmen Rosa Portal del Campo. His only legitimate sibling was his older brother Ing. Political career At the age of 15 Villanueva became a member of APRA's '' Juventud Aprista Peruana'' in opposition to the military dictatorship of Luis Miguel Sánchez Cerro. Luis Fernán Bedoya Reyes (20 February 1919 – 18 March 2021) was a Peruvian Christian Democrat (PDC) and Christian People's Party (PPC) politician who served as the Mayor of Lima from 1964 to 1969. He was also a Minister of Justice, member of the Peruvian Congress, and ran unsuccessfully for the Peruvian presidency two times. He was the founder of the Christian People's Party (PPC). Christian People's Party (Peru)
The Christian People's Party ( es, link=yes, Partido Popular Cristiano, PPC) is a center-right and conservative political party based on the principles of Christian democracy. It was founded in 1966 by a group of Peruvian Christian Democrat Party (''Democracia Cristiana'') dissidents, led by Luis Bedoya Reyes. In 2000, its inscription was renewed, and it became part of National Unity, although not in a permanent basis. Alan García
Alan Gabriel Ludwig García Pérez (; 23 May 1949 – 17 April 2019) was a Peruvian politician who served as President of Peru for two non-consecutive terms from 1985 to 1990 and from 2006 to 2011. He was the second leader of the Peruvian Aprista Party and to date the only party member ever to have served as President. Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre (February 22, 1895 – August 2, 1979) was a Peruvian politician, philosopher, and author who founded the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance (APRA) political movement, the oldest currently existing political party in Peru by the name of the ''Peruvian Aprista Party'' (PAP).
