Hawaii Five-O (1997 Pilot)
''Hawaii Five-O'' is an American police procedural drama series produced by CBS Productions and created by Leonard Freeman (not to be confused with the remake '' Hawaii Five-0,'' with a numeral 0 in the title). Set in Hawaii, the show aired for 12 seasons on CBS from September 20, 1968, to April 5, 1980. The show starred Jack Lord as Detective Captain Stephen "Steve" McGarrett, the head of a fictional state police task force in Hawaii. The theme music composed by Morton Stevens became especially popular. Many episodes in the series would end with McGarrett's catchphrase, "Book 'em, Danno!" At the airing of its finale, it was the longest-running police drama in American television history, and the last scripted primetime show that debuted in the 1960s to leave the air. Bruce Broughton
Bruce Harold Broughton (born March 8, 1945) is an American orchestral composer of television, film, and video game scores and concert works. He has composed several highly acclaimed soundtracks over his extensive career and has contributed many pieces to music archives, including the 1994 version of the 20th Century Fox fanfare with short versions for 20th Century Fox Television and Foxstar Productions and conducting the Cinergi Pictures logo composed by Jerry Goldsmith. He has won ten Emmy Awards and has been nominated once for the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Broughton is currently a lecturer in composition at UCLA. Hawaii Five-O Theme
"Hawaii Five-O Theme" is an instrumental composed by Morton Stevens as the theme music for the CBS television series '' Hawaii Five-O'', which aired from 1968 to 1980. It is considered by many to be one of the best television themes of all time. Rank: #1 The cover version by The Ventures was one of the band's biggest hits. An early copy of the pilot of the '' Hawaii Five-0'' reboot series in 2010 initially used a synthesizer and guitar-based version of the theme, but it was later replaced by a shortened copy of the original theme. Frederick Steiner (February 24, 1923June 23, 2011) was an American composer, conductor, orchestrator, film historian and arranger for television, radio and film. Steiner wrote the theme music for '' The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show'' and '' Perry Mason''. Walter Scharf (August 1, 1910 – February 24, 2003) was an American musician, best known as a film, television and concert composer and arranger/conductor. Pietro Rugolo (December 25, 1915 – October 16, 2011), known professionally as Pete Rugolo, was an American jazz composer, arranger, and record producer. Life and career Rugolo was born in San Piero Patti, Sicily. His family emigrated to the United States in 1920 and settled in Penngrove, California. He began his career in music playing the baritone horn, like his father, but he quickly branched out into other instruments, notably the French horn and the piano. He received a bachelor's degree from San Francisco State College and then went on to study composition with Darius Milhaud at Mills College in Oakland, California, and earn his master's degree.
