Hawaii (band)
Hawaii was an American heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in 1981 by former Deuce guitarist Marty Friedman, originally called Vixen (not to be confused with the Vixen (band), 1980s female band of the same name). Vixen recorded several demos and appeared on the ''U.S. Metal Vol. II'' (1982) compilation album, before releasing the ''Made In Hawaii'' EP in 1983. Another early recording appeared on ''Metal Massacre II'' (1982) under the name Aloha, with Lisa Ruiz taking over lead vocals from Kim La Chance. After Hawaii split up, Marty Friedman formed the band Cacophony (band), Cacophony with Jason Becker; bassist/vocalist Gary St. Pierre joined Vicious Rumors as lead vocalist on their 1985 debut album ''Soldiers of the Night''. Vixen vocalist Kim La Chance surfaced with Malisha and ''Serve Your Savage Beast'' in 1986. Colin Larkin (writer)
Colin Larkin (born 1949) is a British music writer. He founded and was the editor-in-chief of '' The Encyclopedia of Popular Music''. Along with the ten-volume encyclopedia, Larkin also wrote the book '' All Time Top 1000 Albums'', and edited the ''Guinness Who's Who of Jazz'', the ''Guinness Who's Who of Blues'', and the ''Virgin Encyclopedia of Heavy Rock''. ''The Natives Are Restless'' is the third and last studio release by the American speed metal band Hawaii (band), Hawaii and the only one to feature guitarist Tom Azevedo, formerly of Honolulu band Rat Attack. It is also the band's only album to see an official overseas release, with France's Axe Killer Records and Germany's SPV GmbH, SPV/Steamhammer both issuing the record in Europe, using individual cover artwork. SPV would re-issue the album on CD in 1988; Axe Killer followed in 1997 and again in 2007. Bassist/vocalist Gary St. Pierre, who featured on the '' One Nation Underground'' debut LP, was replaced by bassist Joey Galisa and vocalist Eddie Day. Vicious Rumors are an American power metal band, originally formed in 1979 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The band was conceived by founder and guitarist/vocalist Geoff Thorpe, and has been actively recording and touring worldwide since their full-length recording debut in 1985. They are signed to the Germany-based label SPV/Steamhammer.
