Havidán Rodríguez
Havidán Rodríguez (born February 24, 1959, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico) is an American sociologist and university administrator. He is currently the president of the University at Albany, SUNY. He earned his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Education Rodríguez earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, his master's degree in sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1991. His Ph.D. field of specialization was demography, an area in which he continues to publish, along with his interdisciplinary work. Career Rodríguez was named the 20th president of the University at Albany, SUNY, by the State University of New York Board of Trustees on June 21, 2017, a position he assumed in September 2017. The State University of New York at Albany (University at Albany, UAlbany, or SUNY Albany) is a public research university in Albany, New York, United States. Founded in 1844, it is one of four "university centers" of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. In 2016, the university enrolled 16,849 students in nine schools and colleges, which offer 50 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate degree programs.
