Havant RFC
Havant RFC is an English rugby union club and is a member of the Hampshire RFU. The men's 1st XV currently play in the RFU's National League 2 East, a tier 4 league, following their promotion from Regional 1 South Central at the end of the 2023–24 season. Havant currently run four senior men's teams and two senior women’s teams – 1st XV, 2nd XV (Dolphins) – who play in the Solent League, 3rd XV ('A' XV) – who play in Hampshire 2 and a veteran's side (The Mariners). The two senior women’s teams consist of the 1st XV, who are playing in the RFUW's Women's Championship 2 South West League for the 2023-2024 season, and the Sirens who compete in National Challenge 3 South West (South). In addition to the senior men's teams there is an Academy team (under 19s) – who play in Hampshire Colts League Division 1. Rugby Football Union
The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is the Sports governing body, national governing body for rugby union in England. It was founded in 1871, and was the sport's international governing body prior to the formation of what is now known as World Rugby (WR) in 1886. It promotes and runs the sport, organises international matches for the England national rugby union team, England national team, and educates and trains players and officials. The 2004–05 National Division Three South was the fifth season (18th overall) of the fourth division (south) of the English domestic rugby union competition using the name National Division Three South. New teams to the division included Lydney who were relegated from 2003–04 National Division Two as well as Havant (champions) and Hertford (playoffs) who were promoted from London Division 1 while Reading came up as champions of South West Division 1. The season would also see the introduction of a new points system with 4 points being awarded for a win, 2 points being awarded for a draw (replacing the old system of 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw) with the addition of a bonus point being given for scoring 4 or more tries as well as a bonus point given if you manage to lose a game within 7 points of the victorious team. The 2002–03 National Division Three South was the third season (sixteenth overall) of the fourth division (south) of the English domestic rugby union competition using the name National Division Three South. New teams to the division included Rosslyn Park who were relegated from the 2001–02 National Division Two while Havant (champions) and Basingstoke (playoffs) were promoted from London Division 1 along with champions of South West Division 1 – Weston-super-Mare. The 1995–96 Courage League Division 4 was the ninth full season of rugby union within the fourth tier of the English rugby union system, English league system, currently the regional divisions National League 2 South and National League 2 North, and the third using the name Division 4. Impending changes to the league structure by the Rugby Football Union, RFU meant that this would be the last season for Courage League Division 4 as a national league with it reverting to the previous incarnation of two regional leagues - National League 2 South, Courage League Division 4 South and National League 2 North, Courage League Division 4 North. 1994–95 Courage League Division 4
The 1994–95 Courage League Division 4 was the eighth full season of rugby union within the fourth tier of the English league system, currently the regional divisions National League 2 South and National League 2 North, and the second using the name Division 4. At the end of the season Rotherham finished as worthy champions, with just one defeat throughout the campaign to claim promotion to the 1995–96 National Division 3. They were joined by runners up Reading, who despite finishing 5 points behind were still well ahead of the chasing pack. It was quite an achievement by both sides who had only just been promoted into the division, having won their respective leagues the previous year. The 1993–94 Courage League National Division Three was the seventh full season of rugby union within the third tier of the English league system, currently known as National League 1. Following a reduction in size of the top four divisions of the league from thirteen to ten, the teams now play each other twice, home and away instead of just once. Following their relegation last season, Coventry won the division and return to National Division Two for next season. They are joined by the runner-up, Fylde, who were also relegated last season. The 1991–92 Courage National 4 South was the fifth full season of rugby union within the fourth tier of the English league system, currently known as National League 2 South. At the end of the campaign, Havant finished as champions, just edging Hampshire rivals Basingstoke by virtue of a better for/against record to gain promotion to the 1992–93 National Division 3. At the other end of the table Ealing and Sidcup finished in the relegation zone. Of the two Sidcup put up the better fight but ended up being relegated in 12th place despite being tied with two other clubs on 6 points each due to a poorer for/against record. 1990–91 Courage National 4 South
The 1990–91 Courage National 4 South was the fourth full season of rugby union within the fourth tier of the English league system, currently known as National League 2 South, and counterpart to the Courage National 4 North (now National League 2 North). It was the first season for the division using the name National 4 South, having been known as Area League South the previous year. In what was otherwise a very competitive league, Redruth were dominant, finishing as league champions with a perfect record of 12 wins from 12 games to gain promotion to the 1991–92 National Division 3 - 6 points clear of runners up Basingstoke. At the other end of the table Cheltenham and Maidenhead finished in the bottom two places and were relegated.
