Haunted Castle (2001 Film)
''Haunted Castle'' is a 2001 Belgian/American animated horror film in IMAX theaters. The film is rated PG and is computer-animated with 3D effects. Written by Kurt Frey and directed by co-writer Ben Stassen, the film plays out very much like many modern video games, and can be divided into two types of segments: those in which the audience is seeing through the eyes of the main character, and those in which a scene plays out where the main character is actually in the shot. Plot A young, aspiring American musician and singer named Johnny has been notified by a British law firm that his mother, an aging rock star whom Johnny hasn't seen or heard from since he was 3 years old, has died in a helicopter accident. Johnny has been willed her castle and all of her property and money, but he must visit the actual estate, located in England, to claim these things. Ben Stassen
Ben Stassen is a Belgian film director, producer, and screenwriter. Career Stassen founded nWave Pictures in 1994, producing CG ride films including ''Devil's Mine''. Starting in 1997, Stassen began focusing on large-format films, directing ''Thrill Ride: The Science of Fun'' and ''Alien Adventure''. In the late 1990s, Stassen directed a succession of 3-D large-format films, including ''Encounter in the Third Dimension'' and ''Haunted Castle (2001 film), Haunted Castle''. In 2005, Stassen produced and directed ''Wild Safari 3D'', the first 3-D wildlife film for the giant screen. IMAX is a proprietary system of high-resolution cameras, film formats, film projectors, and theaters known for having very large screens with a tall aspect ratio (approximately either 1.43:1 or 1.90:1) and steep stadium seating, with the 1.43:1 ratio format being available only in few selected locations.
