Haulie Daly
Michael "Haulie" Daly (1922 – June 1991) was an Irish hurler who played as a forward for the Clare senior team. Born in Clarecastle, County Clare, Daly first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-three when he first linked up with the Clare senior team. He made his debut during the 1944 championship. Daly later became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and won one National Hurling League medal. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Daly won two Railway Cup medals. At club level he was a three-time championship medallist with Clarecastle. His brothers, John and Pat Joe Daly (father of Anthony), both played for Clare, while his nephew, Anthony Daly, was a two-time All-Ireland-winning captain with Clare. Throughout his career Daly made 6 championship appearances. He retired from inter-county hurling following the conclusion of the 1952 championship. Clare County Council ( ga, Comhairle Contae an Chláir) is the authority responsible for local government in County Clare, Ireland. As a county council, it is governed by the Local Government Act 2001. Clarecastle (''An Clár'' or ) is a village just south of Ennis in County Clare, Ireland. From 2008 to 2016 the village saw a significant population increase due to its proximity to Ennis, Shannon, and Limerick. Name The town is named after the Clare Castle, which stands on an island in the narrowest navigable part of the River Fergus. The Irish ''Clár'', meaning a wooden board, is often used for a bridge. The name probably originated as ''Clár adar da choradh'', which means "the bridge between two weirs". Another explanation of the name is that the de Clare family gave the castle its name, since they had acquired land in Kilkenny and Thomond that included the castle. In 1590 County Clare was named after the castle, which is in a strategic location. Clarecastle (Clare Abbey) is a parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe. Kevin Michael Hogan (born October 20, 1992) is an American football quarterback who is a free agent. He played college football for Stanford University and was their starting quarterback from 2012 to 2015. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and has also played for the Cleveland Browns, Washington Redskins, Denver Broncos, and Cincinnati Bengals. Michael Raphael O'Halloran (12 April 1893 – 22 September 1960) was an Australian politician, representing the South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party. He served as Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of South Australia and also in the Australian Senate. Early life Born in Yanyarrie in outback South Australia, the Irish Catholic O'Halloran was educated at public schools before leaving to work on his parents' farm aged 13. Politics O'Halloran joined the ALP at 15 and was first elected to the South Australian House of Assembly Electoral district of Burra Burra at the 1918 election. He lost the seat at the 1921 election, but regained it at the 1924 election. He also made an astute move in 1924 by marrying Mary Frances Rowe on 14 August 1924. They had no children, but Mary would act as O'Halloran's electorate officer and advisor for the remainder of his political life.
