Haukur Þrastarson
Haukur Þrastarson (born 14 April 2001) is an Icelandic handball player for CS Dinamo București (men's handball), Dinamo Bucuresti and the Iceland men's national handball team, Icelandic national team. He participated at the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship. Club career Haukur Þrastarson made his debut for his boyhood club Selfoss men's handball, Selfoss in the 2016/2017 season, when he was only 15 years old. After having won the Icelandic Championship with his boyhood club in 2019, Haukur signed with Polish giants Vive Kielce. Shortly after arriving in Poland, Haukur tore his ACL and was ruled out for the season. Despite his injury Haukur was rewarded with a contract extension by Kielce. International career Haukur was chosen the Most Valuable Player of the 2018 European Men's U-18 Handball Championship in Croatia when he helped Iceland's U-18 secure silver at the tournament. Selfoss (town)
Selfoss () is a town in southern Iceland on the banks of the Ölfusá river. It is the seat of the municipality of Árborg. The Icelandic Route 1 (Iceland), Route 1 runs through the town on its way between Hveragerði and Hella, Iceland, Hella. The town is a centre of commerce and small industries with a population of around 10,000 (2023), making it the largest residential area in South Iceland. History Overview Selfoss was settled by Þórir Ásason sometime after 1000, but the sagas of Icelanders mention that Ingólfur Arnarson was there during the winter of 873-74, under the Ingólfsfjall mountain, which is west of the Ölfusá river. In the summer of 1891, due to the lobbying of Tryggvi Gunnarsson, a member of the Alþing, the first suspension bridge was built over the Ölfusá.
