''Prisoners of War'' () is an Israeli television drama series created by Israeli director, screenwriter and producer Gideon Raff and made by Keshet. The first season aired on Israel's Channel 2 from March to May 2010, and the second season aired from October to December 2012. In 2013, Raff stated that a third season was planned, but in 2015 said that a third season did not look likely. In 2010, the series won the Israeli Academy Award for Television for Best Drama Series. The programme was acquired by 20th Century Fox Television before it aired in Israel, and was adapted into the eight-season series ''Homeland'' for Showtime in the United States from 2011 to 2020. In India, it was adapted as the 110 episode television series '' P.O.W. - Bandi Yuddh Ke'' by Nikhil Advani in 2016 and 2017, with Raff consulting for the series. Gideon "Gidi" Raff (; born 10 September 1972) is an Israeli film and television director, screenwriter, and writer. He is best known for his creation of the Channel 2 thriller drama series ''Prisoners of War'', from which he later co-developed the American version of the series, ''Homeland''. Early life Raff was born in Jerusalem, to a Jewish family. His father is Eitan Raff, who served as Accountant General in the Israeli Ministry of Finance, was Chairman of the Board of Bank Leumi and, , was under criminal investigation for having aided US customers in tax evasion. From the ages of two to six he lived in Washington, D.C., where his father was Economic Adviser to the Israeli Embassy. Mili Avital (; born March 30, 1972) is an Israeli actress. Her career began in Israel, starring on stage, film and television.
