Hatice Akbaş
Hatice Akbaş (born 1 January 2002) is a Turkish Olympics silver medalist, world and European champion female boxer competing in the bantamweight (54 kg) division. Early years Hatice Akbaş started boxing at her age of nine in the sport hall her father opened in Malatya. She took the gold medal at the 2016 European Women Youth Boxing Championships in Ordu, Turkey. She became champion in the flyweight (50–52 kg) event at the 2022 European U22 Boxing Championships held in Poreč, Croatia on 22 March 2022. Boxing career On 20 May 2022, she won the gold medal in the 54 kg category at the Women's World Championship defeating Romania's Lăcrămioara Perijoc in the bantamweight final in Istanbul, Turkey. At the 2022 Mediterranean Games in Oran, Algeria, she captured the gold medal. She took a bronze medal at the 2023 European Games in Nowy Targ, Poland on 30 June 2023. İnönü University is a public university in Malatya, Turkey. On 28 January 1975, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey ordered the establishment of İnönü University in Malatya, the hometown of the second president of Turkey, İsmet İnönü. Charley Davison (born 11 January 1994) is a British amateur boxer who won a bronze medal at the 2023 European Games. Biography Davison started boxing at the age of eight, trained by her father at home because the local boxing club did not accept girls. She fought Ornella Wahner in 2010 and 2011, before taking a seven year break from boxing and then winning the national championship in 2019. In June 2021, Davison qualified to represent Great Britain at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics, and reached the final of the 2020 European Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament by defeating Giordana Sorrentino via unanimous points decision in the semi-final.
