Hatebreed
Hatebreed is an American metalcore/ hardcore band from Bridgeport, Connecticut, formed in 1994. The band released its debut album ''Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire'' in 1997, which gave the band a cult following. The band signed to Universal Records and released '' Perseverance'' in 2002, which hit the ''Billboard'' 200. The band is described to combine elements of hardcore and heavy metal. They have played a major role in the Connecticut hardcore scene. History Hatebreed was formed in 1994 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. They began by recording a three song demo and selling it to locals in 1995 and those songs would eventually be released on a split 7" with New York's Neglect in the same year. The Rise Of Brutality
''The Rise of Brutality'' is the third studio album by American metalcore band Hatebreed. It was released on October 28, 2003 by Universal Records. Background "This is Now" proved to be the album's first single, frequently being played on MTV2's ''Headbangers Ball'', a program which vocalist Jamey Jasta often hosted. The song was also included on the first '' MTV2 Headbangers Ball'' compilation album that same year. A second single would be found in "Live for This," with its music video dedicated to a deceased friend of the band. The song "Another Day, Another Vendetta," greatly samples the song "Just Look Around," by Sick of it All, borrowing the first verse. The first song, "Tear It Down" is an extended version of the song "Outro" from the previous album '' Perseverance''. Their song "Live for This" was nominated for a Grammy award in 2005. Jamey Jasta
James Vincent Shanahan (born August 7, 1977), known professionally as Jamey Jasta, is an American vocalist, best known as the lead singer of metalcore band Hatebreed and sludge metal band Kingdom of Sorrow. Jasta also fronts metalcore band Icepick. Prior to Hatebreed, he fronted the hardcore band Jasta 14. Career In 2000 Jasta was featured as a guest vocalist on Catch 22's ''Alone in a Crowd''. Jasta owns Stillborn Records, a hardcore- and metal-based record label from West Haven, Connecticut, and a "rock-themed apparel" line called Hatewear. In 2011, Jasta released a solo album titled ''Jasta'', collaborating with Randy Blythe and Mark Morton (Lamb of God), Zakk Wylde, Philip Labonte ( All That Remains), and Tim Lambesis ( As I Lay Dying). He released a second album under the name "Jasta" called "The Lost Chapters" in 2017 and a third album "The Lost Chapters: Volume 2, in 2019. Metalcore
Metalcore is a broadly defined fusion genre combining elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, originating in the 1990s United States and becoming popular in the 2000s. Metalcore typically has aggressive verses and melodic choruses, combined with Breakdown (music), breakdowns – which are slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Deftones
Deftones is an American alternative metal band formed in Sacramento, California in 1988. They were formed by frontman Chino Moreno, lead guitarist Stephen Carpenter and drummer Abe Cunningham, with bassist Chi Cheng and keyboardist and turntablist Frank Delgado joining the line-up in 1990 and 1999, respectively. The band's experimental nature has led some critics to describe them as "the Radiohead of metal". Voorhees is a hardcore punk band formed in Durham, England. From early 1991 until late 2001 they released records on international record labels and toured Europe and the USA. History Origins and early years In the late 1980s, vocalist Ian Leck and guitarist Sean Readman were members of Durham straight edge hardcore band Steadfast. Slayer is an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981 by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King, drummer Dave Lombardo and bassist/vocalist Tom Araya. Entombed (band)
Entombed is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1987 under the name of Nihilist. Entombed began their career as an early pioneer of Scandinavian death metal which initially differed from its American counterpart by its distinct "buzzsaw" guitar tone. However, by the early 1990s their sound had broadened to include garage rock and other influences. This new style would eventually be described as death 'n' roll. ''Under the Knife'' is the second EP by American metalcore band Hatebreed, released in 1996 by Smorgasbord Records. It consists of the band's first 7 inch release, also titled ''Under the Knife'', as well as three additional demo tracks. It was re-released several times, in 1998 by Smorgasbord Records, in 2000 by both Smorgasbord Records and Victory Records and in 2006 by Cortex Records. The 7" vinyl only has the four first tracks, but the CD has all 7 tracks.
