Harrow London Borough Council
Harrow London Borough Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Harrow in Greater London, England. It is a London borough council, one of 32 in the United Kingdom capital of London. It is currently controlled by the Conservative Party with 31 seats. The Labour Party is the sole opposition, with 24 seats. History There have previously been a number of local authorities responsible for the Harrow area. The current local authority was first elected in 1964, a year before formally coming into its powers and prior to the creation of the London Borough of Harrow on 1 April 1965. 2014 Harrow London Borough Council Election
The 2014 Harrow Council election took place on 22 May 2014 to elect members of Harrow Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections. Results Labour won control from a minority Conservative administration. Labour won 34 seats, the Conservatives won 26 seats, the Liberal Democrats won 1 seat and Independents won 2 seats. 2010 United Kingdom General Election
The 2010 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday 6 May 2010, with 45,597,461 registered voters entitled to vote to elect members to the House of Commons. The election took place in 650 constituencies across the United Kingdom under the first-past-the-post system. The election resulted in a large swing to the Conservative Party similar to that seen in 1979, the last time a Conservative opposition had ousted a Labour government. The Labour Party lost the 66-seat majority it had previously enjoyed, but no party achieved the 326 seats needed for a majority. The London Borough of Harrow () is a London borough in northwest London, England; it forms part of Outer London. It borders four other London boroughs Barnet to the east of ancient Watling Street (now the A5 road), Brent to the southeast, Ealing to the south and Hillingdon to the west plus the Hertfordshire districts of Three Rivers and Hertsmere to the north. The local authority is Harrow London Borough Council. The London borough was formed in 1965, based on boundaries that had been established in 1934. Susan Hall
Susan Mary Hall is a British Conservative Party politician who has been a Member of the London Assembly (AM) for Londonwide since 2017. She has been the leader of the London Conservatives on the Assembly since December 2019. Political career Hall was elected as a Councillor on Harrow London Borough Council for Hatch End Ward in the 2006 local elections. She was given a Cabinet position responsible for the Environment and Community Safety in 2007 and became Deputy Leader of the group in 2008. The 2022 Harrow London Borough Council election took place on 5 May 2022. All 55 members of Harrow London Borough Council were elected. The elections took place alongside local elections in the other London boroughs and elections to local authorities across the United Kingdom. The 2022 election took place under new election boundaries, which reduced the number of councillors to 55.
