Hastings-on-Hudson
Hastings-on-Hudson is a village in Westchester County located in the southwestern part of the town of Greenburgh in the state of New York, United States. It is a suburb of New York City, located approximately north of midtown Manhattan, and is served by a stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line. To the north of Hastings-on-Hudson is the village of Dobbs Ferry, to the south, the city of Yonkers, and to the east unincorporated parts of Greenburgh. As of the 2020 US Census, it had a population of 8,590. The town lies on U.S. Route 9, "Broadway" and the Saw Mill River Parkway. History The area that is now Hastings-on-Hudson and Dobbs Ferry was the primary settlement of the Weckquaesgeek Algonquian people, who called the community Wysquaqua. In the summer, the Weckquaesgeeks camped at the mouth of the ravine running under the present Warburton Avenue Bridge. Hastings-on-Hudson (Metro-North Station)
Hastings-on-Hudson station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line, located in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. History Hastings-on-Hudson has had railroad service from as far back as the 1840s, pre-dating the Hudson River Railroad, and served both passengers and a local sugar refinery. In 1875, a major fire destroyed the waterfront, and the company running the sugar refinery left town, but other industries ended up taking its place. The current Hastings-on-Hudson station building was built in 1910 by the New York Central Railroad. As with many NYCRR stations in Westchester County, the station became a Penn Central station upon the merger between NYC and Pennsylvania Railroad in 1968, until it was taken over by Conrail in 1976, and then by Metro-North Railroad in 1983. Saw Mill River Parkway
The Saw Mill River Parkway (also known as the Saw Mill Parkway or the Saw Mill) is a limited-access road, limited-access Parkways in New York, parkway that extends for through Westchester County, New York, in the United States. The Hudson Line is a commuter rail line owned and operated by the Metro-North Railroad in the U.S. state of New York (state), New York. It runs north from New York City along the east shore of the Hudson River, terminating at Poughkeepsie (Metro-North station), Poughkeepsie.
