Michael Berry, Baron Hartwell
William Michael Berry, Baron Hartwell MBE (18 May 1911 – 3 April 2001), was a British newspaper proprietor and journalist. Early life and education Berry was the second son of the 1st Viscount Camrose and his wife, Mary Agnes Corns. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. Career Berry followed his elder brother Seymour Berry, 2nd Viscount Camrose, as Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of the '' Daily'' and '' Sunday Telegraph'' newspapers. He remained in this role until the takeover by Conrad Black in 1986. He was also the backer behind the arts review, ''X'' magazine. Harpswell is a town in Cumberland County, Maine, United States, within Casco Bay in the Gulf of Maine. The population was 5,031 at the 2020 census. Hartwell Tavern (also known as the Ephraim Hartwell House) is a historic American Revolutionary War site associated with the revolution's first battle, the 1775 battles of Lexington and Concord. It is located on North County Road, just off Battle Road (formerly the Bay Road) in Lincoln, Massachusetts, and is operated as a historic house museum by the National Park Service as part of the Minute Man National Historical Park. ''Hartwell'' was a 3-decker ship of the British East India Company (EIC) launched in 1787. On her maiden voyage she ran aground and sank off the Cape Verde Islands off West Africa. Career Caleb Crookenden and Co. of West Itchenor, West Sussex, launched ''Hartwell'' in February 1787, for Captain John Fiott. He claimed she was the largest ship of her kind in the service of the EIC. Captain Edward Fiott sailed ''Hartwell'' from The Downs on 25 April 1787, bound for China. She was on her maiden voyage, loaded with goods including of silver. After severe Atlantic gales, on 20 May, a mutiny broke out when the crew refused to extinguish lights. Fiott arrested and confined three men, but with half the crew still refusing to obey orders, he changed course and headed for the Cape Verde islands, where he intended to hand over the mutineers to the authorities. Hartwell Railway Station
Hartwell railway station is a commuter railway station on the Alamein line, which is part of the Melbourne railway network. It serves the eastern suburb of Camberwell, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It opened on 7 May 1906, with the current station building provided in 1938. Initially opened as Hartwell Hill, the station was given its current name of Hartwell on 1 August 1909. It is the only station on the Alamein line to have an island platform. History When Hartwell station opened, it was served by a train consisting of a locomotive and one or two carriages, dubbed the ''Deepdene Dasher'', which operated between Ashburton and Deepdene stations.
