James Burkett Hartle (August 20, 1939) is an American physicist. He has been a professor of physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara since 1966, and he is currently a member of the external faculty of the Santa Fe Institute. Hartle is known for his work in general relativity, astrophysics, and interpretation of quantum mechanics. Work In collaboration with Murray Gell-Mann and others, Hartle developed an alternative to the standard Copenhagen interpretation, more general and appropriate to quantum cosmology, based on consistent histories. With Dieter Brill in 1964, he discovered the Brill–Hartle geon, an approximate solution realizing Wheeler's suggestion of a hypothetical phenomenon in which a gravitational wave packet is confined to a compact region of spacetime by the gravitational attraction of its own field energy. Adam Hartle is an American stand up comedian. Comedy career Hartle first made national headlines in 2012 during filming of his comedy documentary '' Mile High: The Comeback of Cannabis'' where he and director Anthony Hashem purchased the first joints legally sold in US history (2nd official purchase). The film enjoyed much critical acclaim including a notable scene, during an interview with former Congressman and Presidential candidate Tom Tancredo where Hartle bet the Congressman that if the marijuana vote passed in Colorado, the two would smoke a legal joint together. Barry Hartle
Barry Hartle (born 8 August 1939) is an English former footballer who played as an inside or outside left. Born in Salford, Greater Manchester he made over 300 appearances in the Football League between 1956 and 1971 before dropping into non-league football. Career Hartle was spotted by Watford while playing in a local park as a schoolboy and agreed terms as a junior in 1956. Making his league debut two years later in December 1958, Hartle became a key member of Watford's first-team squad, and was part of their side that won promotion from Division Four during their 1959–60 season. Having impressed in the lower divisions, Hartle was signed by Division Two side Sheffield United for £2,750 in June 1960, but only made three competitive appearances during his first season with the Blades. Hartleton, Pennsylvania
Hartleton is a borough in Union County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 247 at the 2020 census. The borough, as well as the adjoining township of Hartley, are both named for Colonel Thomas Hartley, American politician and Revolutionary War leader, and local landowner. An alternative name was Hartleyton and later shortened to the present name. The original name was Kester's (akin to Keister today), and named for Peter Kester who was the first tenant of Hartley. Kester's was at the intersection of "great Reuben Haines road" from Northumberland through Dry Valley, New Berlin and the Penns Valley Narrows, and the first public road laid out in the area by Northumberland County court from Northumberland through Derrstown (Lewisburg) and Mifflinburg (this road from Derrstown through the Penns Valley Narrows eventually became what is known as the turnpike). Roy Hartle (4 October 1931 – 5 November 2014) was an English professional footballer, mainly playing at right-back. Enid Hartle (16 December 1935 – 1 December 2008) was born in Sheffield and studied singing first at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and later with Vera Rózsa, with whom she had a long and fruitful relationship.
