Harshitha Samarawickrama (Sinhala language, Sinhala: හර්ෂිතා සමරවික්‍රම, ; born 29 June 1998) is a Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for Sri Lanka's women's cricket team, Sri Lanka's national women's team. International career She made her Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against Ireland in March 2016 and her One Day International (ODI) debut Australian women's cricket team in Sri Lanka in 2016–17, against Australia in September 2016. In November 2019, she was named the captain of Sri Lanka's squad for the Cricket at the 2019 South Asian Games – Women's tournament, women's cricket tournament at the 2019 South Asian Games. The Sri Lankan team won the silver medal, after losing to Bangladesh by two runs in the final. In January 2020, she was named as the vice-captain of Sri Lanka's squad for the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia. The 2020 Women's T20 World Cup was the seventh Women's T20 World Cup tournament. It was held in Australia between 21 February and 8 March 2020. The 2020 Women's T20 World Cup final, final took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on International Women's Day. Hosts Australia women's national cricket team, Australia won the tournament, beating India women's national cricket team, India by 85 runs, to win their fifth title. It was a standalone tournament, the 2021 Men's T20 World Cup, men's tournament was initially held eight months ahead of the schedule, but would be postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Australia were the defending champions, and lost their opening match of the tournament against India.
