Harry Shafransky
Harry Shafransky (September 4, 1930 – September 10, 1986) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served as a New Democratic member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1969 to 1977. Born in Poland, he came to Canada while still young and grew up on a farm near Roblin, Manitoba. Shafransky was educated at the University of Manitoba. He worked as a teacher in northern British Columbia and then Winnipeg before entering politics. He ran for the House of Commons of Canada in the federal election of 1965, finishing a relatively strong third in the Winnipeg riding of St. Boniface. His first venture into provincial politics was not as successful; he challenged Liberal leader Gildas Molgat in Ste. Rose in the 1966 election, and finished a distant fourth with only 86 votes. Heart Attack
A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when Ischemia, blood flow decreases or stops in one of the coronary arteries of the heart, causing infarction (tissue death) to the heart muscle. The most common symptom is retrosternal Angina, chest pain or discomfort that classically radiates to the left shoulder, arm, or jaw. The pain may occasionally feel like heartburn. This is the dangerous type of acute coronary syndrome. Edward Schreyer
Edward Richard Schreyer (born December 21, 1935) is a Canadian politician, diplomat, and statesman who served as the 22nd governor general of Canada from 1979 to 1984. He previously served as the 16th premier of Manitoba from 1969 to 1977. Schreyer was born and educated in Manitoba, and was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, province's legislative assembly in 1958. He later moved into federal politics, winning a seat in the House of Commons of Canada, House of Commons, but returned to Manitoba in 1969 to become leader of the Manitoba New Democratic Party, provincial New Democratic Party (NDP). The party then won that year's provincial election and Schreyer became the 16th premier of Manitoba, aged 33. 1973 Manitoba General Election
The 1973 Manitoba general election was held on June 28, 1973 to elect Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Manitoba, Canada. It was won by the social-democratic New Democratic Party, which took 31 of 57 seats to win government in its own right for the first time. The Progressive Conservative Party finished second with 21, while the Manitoba Liberal Party took the remaining five. The Manitoba Social Credit Party lost its only seat. Abe Kovnats
Abe Kovnats (March 22, 1928 in St. Boniface, Manitoba – March 6, 1996) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1977 to 1988, serving as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Early life and career The son of Michael Kovnats and Mary Silverman, he was educated at the University of Manitoba. Before entering political life, he ran a company in the parking business and worked as a referee in the Canadian Football League. In 1956, he married Donna Catherine Maloney. Political career Kovnats first ran for the Manitoba legislature in the provincial election of 1973, losing to New Democrat Harry Shafransky in the riding of Radisson by about 600 votes.
