Harry Kerley
Henry Charles "Harry" Kerley (12 December 1894 – 23 January 1987) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood and St Kilda in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The fourth son of John Kerley (1855-1939), and Sarah Ann Kerley (née Hillier, 1860-1941), Henry Charles Kerley was born on 12 December 1894. He married Rose Gertrude Robinson (1900-1987) in 1922. They had two children: Rosie Eleanor Kerley (1923-2010), later Mrs Henry Ellis Sevior, and Betty Pauline Kerley (1925-2005), later Mrs Alfred James Wright. Football Collingwood (VFL) Having been cleared from Prahran Juniors to Collingwood Districts in July 1914. he played his first VFL match for Collingwood, selected in the forward pocket, against Carlton, at Princes Park, on 7 June 1915, replacing Gus Dobrigh, who had been dropped for failing to attend training. 1916 Pioneer Exhibition Game
On Saturday 28 October 1916, the former Olympic champion swimmer and the later Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Lieutenant Frank Beaurepaire, organised an Australian Rules football match in aid of the British and the French Red Cross. Promoted as the ''Pioneer Exhibition Game of Australian Football in London'', and "believed to be the first exhibition of Australian football in London" (de Lacy, 1949), the match was contested between two teams of Australian servicemen who were stationed in the UK the ''Australian Training Units Team'' and the ''Third Australian Divisional Team'' all of whom were highly skilled footballers, and the majority of which had already played senior football in their respective states prior to their enlistment. Prahran, Victoria
Prahran (), also pronounced colloquially as Pran, is an inner suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 5 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Stonnington local government area. Prahran recorded a population of 12,203 at the 2021 census. Prahran is a part of Greater Melbourne, with many shops, restaurants and cafes. Chapel Street is a mix of upscale fashion boutiques and cafes. Greville Street, once the centre of the Melbourne's hippie community, has many cafés, bars, restaurants, bookstores, clothing shops and music shops. Prahran takes its name from Pur-ra-ran, a Boonwurrung word which was thought to mean "land partially surrounded by water". When naming began the suburbs spelling was intended to be Praharan and pronounced Pur-ra-ran, but a spelling mistake on a government form lead to the name Prahran. Ovens & Murray Football League
The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League (O&MFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing ten clubs based in north-eastern Victoria, the southern Riverina region of New South Wales and the Ovens and Murray area. The name comes from the Ovens River, the river in the part of north-eastern Victoria covered by the league, and the Murray River, which separates Victoria and New South Wales. The league features three grades in the Australian rules football competition, with these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade and Under 18s. In the netball competition, there are four grades, with these being A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade and Under 16s. Currently a home and away season consisting of eighteen rounds is played. The best five teams then play off according to the McIntyre System, culminating in the O&MFNL Grand Final, which from 1995 to 2017 was held at the Lavington Sports Ground in the Albury suburb of Hamilton Valley. Coburg () is a town located on the Itz river in the Upper Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany.
