Harry Hunter Seldomridge
Harry Hunter Seldomridge (October 1, 1864 – November 2, 1927) was a U.S. Representative from Colorado. Biography Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Seldomridge attended the public schools of Philadelphia. He moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in February 1878. He graduated from Colorado College at Colorado Springs in 1885. He worked as the City editor of the Colorado Springs Gazette from 1886 to 1888. He engaged in the grain and hay business in 1888. He served as delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1896. He served as member of the State senate 1896–1904. He served as member and president of the State charter convention at Colorado Springs in 1909. Seldomridge was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress (March 4, 1913 – March 3, 1915). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1914 to the Sixty-fourth Congress. Evergreen Cemetery (Colorado Springs, Colorado)
Evergreen Cemetery is the city-maintained cemetery for Colorado Springs, Colorado, on the National Register of Historic Places in El Paso County, Colorado. When Colorado Springs was founded in 1871 there were already two cemeteries serving El Paso County but both were quickly found to be inadequate in serving the needs of the rapidly growing city. In 1874, the founder of Colorado Springs, General William Jackson Palmer, founded a new cemetery two miles from town. The original names were the Mount Washington or Mountain Home Cemetery. In 1877, the name was changed to Evergreen Cemetery. In 1875, the original or so was deeded to the city of Colorado Springs and it has been a city owned and operated cemetery since then. In 1993 the cemetery was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. William Ellery Sweet
William Ellery Sweet (January 27, 1869 – May 9, 1942) was an American banker and politician who served as the 23rd Governor of Colorado from 1923 to 1925. Early life and career William was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 27, 1869, to Channing and Emeroy Sweet. His family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1872 when William was two. He attended school there, and graduated from high school in 1887. After high school, he went to college in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at Swarthmore College. He graduated from Swarthmore in 1890, after three years attending, and earned his Bachelor Degree. He also excelled playing quarterback for the college football team and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. On October 19, 1892, Sweet married Joyeuse L. Fullerton in Philadelphia. John Andrew Martin
John Andrew Martin (April 10, 1868 – December 23, 1939) was an American journalist, attorney, soldier, and politician, who represented Colorado in the U.S. House of Representatives. He recruited troops and commanded the 115th Supply Train, Fortieth Division during World War I. Early life and education He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of Hugh and Ann (Bohan) Martin. He acquired a public school education in Mexico and in Fulton, Missouri until he was twelve years old and began working in a tobacco factory. He moved with his parents to Kansas in 1884 and worked on a farm in Turon. Career He came to Colorado in 1887.
