Harry Hepcat
Harry Hepcat is an American first-generation rock and roll artist, performing rock, blues, doo-wop and rockabilly over seven decades. He is noted as a singer, guitarist, band leader, songwriter, radio disc-jockey, writer, and media personality. A 1981 review stated, "His honest sense of fun distinguishes him from humorless idol-worshipers and from slapstick cretins..." He was a frequent guest on WCBS-FM in 'New York City' (The Doo-Wop Shop) and, at the other end of the rock spectrum, was one of the first listed in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 1998 and featured on the organization's first CD. Yonkers Raceway
Yonkers Raceway & Empire City Casino, founded in 1899 as the Empire City Race Track, is a one-half-mile standardbred harness racing dirt track and slots racino located at the intersection of Central Park Avenue and Yonkers Avenue in Yonkers, New York, near the New York City border. It is owned by Vici Properties and operated by MGM Resorts International. History Yonkers Raceway, considered a city landmark, was opened in 1899 by William H. Clark's Empire City Trotting Club. Clark died in 1900 and, with much litigation by his heirs over its proposed sale, the track remained closed for most of the next seven years except for special events. Westinghouse Broadcasting
The Westinghouse Broadcasting Company, also known as Group W, was the broadcasting division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. It owned several radio and television stations across the United States and distributed television shows for syndication. Westinghouse Broadcasting was formed in the 1920 as Westinghouse Radio Stations, Inc. It was renamed Westinghouse Broadcasting Company in 1954, and adopted the ''Group W'' moniker on May 20, 1963. It was a self-contained entity within the Westinghouse corporate structure; while the parent company was headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Westinghouse Broadcasting maintained headquarters in New York City. WLIM (1440 AM, ''The Breeze'') is a radio station licensed to Medford, New York, broadcasting a soft adult contemporary music format. History Originally licensed to Babylon, New York, the 1440 frequency signed on the air on Sunday January 5, 1958 as WBAB with 500 watts daytime only. Operated by Babylon-Bay Shore Broadcasting Company, the station initially played Jazz and featured a large news department as well as extensive community affairs programming. WBAB (and its FM signal on 102.3) switched to a Pop Music format before becoming a Progressive Rock station by the late 1960s. On October 14, 1975, the station's call letters were changed to WNYG (New York Gospel) after adopting a Gospel music format. WLIR was a radio station that played a new music/ modern rock format on the frequencies 92.7 FM, 98.5 FM, and 107.1 FM from the 1980s into the 2000s.
