Harry Clark (April 17, 1913 – February 28, 1956) was an American actor. Prior to his acting career, Clark was a physical education teacher, athlete, and factory worker who became involved with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union-sponsored revue ''Pins and Needles'' in 1937, and its success encouraged him to pursue a career in acting. His Broadway credits include ''The Skin of Our Teeth'', ''One Touch of Venus'', ''Call Me Mister'', ''Kiss Me, Kate'', '' Wish You Were Here'', and '' Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?'' From the early 1940s through the mid-1950s, Clark appeared in a string of B-movies. On television, he appeared on ''The United States Steel Hours production of '' No Time for Sergeants'' and ''The Phil Silvers Show ''The Phil Silvers Show'', originally titled ''You'll Never Get Rich'', is a sitcom which ran on CBS from 1955 to 1959. Harry Clark is an American playwright and cellist. He is known for plays that combine drama with live or recorded classical music performance. Career Born in Tucson, AZ, Clark began playing the cello at age 10. Former principal cellist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, he also played in a duo with his wife, pianist Sanda Schuldmann. The duo made their New York premiere at Carnegie Hall in 1974, and they have played with one another as a duo, part of the Fidelio Trio, and in other combinations since. In 1980, Clark and Schuldmann founded the classical music presenting organization Chamber Music PLUS, which pairs musical performance with insight into the creative process that led to the music. Clark has premiered and/or recorded well over one hundred works by prominent composers including Samuel Barber, William Bolcolm, David Diamond, Libby Larsen, Benjamin Lees, Avery Sharpe, Robert Starer, and Iannnis Xenakis. Harry Hayden Clark (1901–1971) was a professor of English, specializing in American literature. He was a Guggenheim Fellow for the academic year 1931–1932. Clark graduated in 1923 with A.B. from Connecticut's Trinity College and in 1924 from Harvard University. At Yale University he was an instructor in English for the academic year 1924–1925. In the English department of Vermont's Middlebury College, he was from 1925 to 1926 an instructor and from 1926 to 1928 an assistant professor. From 1928 until his death in 1971 he was a faculty member of the English department of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. There he was the advisor for 104 doctoral dissertations.
