Mary Harron (born January 12, 1953) is a Canadian film director and screenwriter. She co-wrote the screenplay and directed ''American Psycho'', '' The Notorious Bettie Page'''' and I Shot Andy Warhol.'' Early life Born in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada, Harron grew up with a family with numerous connections to the arts. She is the daughter of Gloria Fisher and Don Harron, a Canadian actor, comedian, author and director. Her parents divorced when she was six years old. Harron spent her early life residing between Toronto and Los Angeles. Harron's first stepmother, Virginia Leith, was discovered by Stanley Kubrick and acted in his first film '' Fear and Desire'' and was also featured in the 1962 cult classic '' The Brain That Wouldn't Die''. Robert Harron
Robert Emmett Harron (April 12, 1893 – September 5, 1920) was an American motion picture actor of the early silent film era. Although he acted in over 200 films, he is possibly best recalled for his roles in the D.W. Griffith directed films ''The Birth of a Nation'' (1915) and ''Intolerance'' (1916). Early life and family Born in New York City, Harron was second oldest child of nine siblings in a poor, working-class Irish Catholic family. Harron's younger siblings John (nicknamed "Johnnie"), Mary, and Charles also became actors while one of his younger sisters, Tessie, was an extra in silent films. Charles was killed in a car accident in December 1915. Tessie died of Spanish influenza in 1918 while Harron's brother John died of spinal meningitis in 1939. Donald Hugh Harron, (September 19, 1924 – January 17, 2015) was a Canadian comedian, actor, director, journalist, author, playwright, and composer. Harron is best remembered by American audiences as a member of the cast of the long-running country music series ''Hee Haw'', on which he played his signature character of Charlie Farquharson. Early life Harron's parents, Lionel William Harron and Delsia Adah Maud Hunter Harron, owned and operated Harron's Cleaners and Dryers in Toronto. Marion Janet Harron (September 3, 1903 – September 26, 1972) was an American lawyer and United States Tax Court judge from 1936 to 1970. She is also known for her five-year affair with Lorena Hickok. Harron was a frequent visitor at the White House during the 1940s. Early life and education Harron was born in San Francisco, California, the daughter of George Olcott Brown, a jeweler, and Mary Jane (Minnie) Little Brown. Her parents divorced in 1904. John Harron
John Harron (March 31, 1904 – November 24, 1939) was an American actor. He appeared in more than 160 films between 1918 and 1940. Born on March 31, 1904, in New York City, he was the brother of actor Robert Harron and of actress Mary Harron. Harron graduated from Santa Clara University. His film debut came in '' Through the Back Door'' (1921). After acting for Universal, he was under contract to Warner Bros. Harron "achieved great success on the silent screen but was reduced to minor roles or minor films with the coming of sound." Harron died in Seattle, Washington from spinal meningitis. Dawson Harron
Dawson Gascoigne Harron (12 September 1921 – 21 July 1988) was an English cricketer. Harron was a right-handed batsman. He was born at Langley Park, County Durham. Harron made his debut for Durham in the 1947 Minor Counties Championship against Staffordshire. He played Minor counties cricket for Durham from 1947 to 1949, making five Minor Counties Championship appearances. Harron later joined Leicestershire, making his first-class debut for the county against Middlesex in the 1951 County Championship. He made nine further first-class appearances in 1951, the last of which came against Yorkshire. In his ten first-class matches, he scored a total of 186 runs at an average of 15.50, with a high score of 53. This score, which was his only first-class fifty, came against Surrey.
