Harrison Keller (academic)
Harrison Keller (''born'' Jerry William Harrison Keller; December 15, 1970) is an American academic, former education commissioner, and current president of the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton. He assumed office August 1, 2024, succeeding Neal Smatresk. He was officially installed as UNT President on November 13, 2024. Neal Joseph Smatresk ( ; born July 9, 1951), is an American academic research biologist, physiologist, and university president, who served as president of the University of North Texas from 2014 to 2024. Smatresk had previously served as president of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, a role he held from 2009 to 2014. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) is an agency of the U.S. state of Texas's government that oversees all public post-secondary education in the state. It is headquartered at 1801 North Congress Avenue in Austin. THECB determines which Texas public four-year universities are permitted to start or continue degree programs. THECB also evaluates degrees from other states and other nations for use in Texas.
