Harpoon Company (Ukraine)
The Harpoon Company is the 3rd company of the Myrotvorets Battalion of the Liut Brigade of the Special Tasks Patrol Police subordinated to Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The company is currently based in Kyiv. It was established in 2014 and has, since then seen regular combat on the frontlines. History On 15 September 2014, the Harpoon Battalion was established as a volunteer Battalion composed of volunteers participants of the Revolution of Dignity, especially the activists of "Maidan Self-Defense", "Free People", "Plast", Youth Nationalist Congress and C14. In November 2014, the personnel of the battalion were deployed to the ATO zone and conducted successful combat operations in Kramatorsk, Svitlodarsk, Chasiv Yar, among other settlements. On 22 July 2015, two soldiera of the battalion (Mykola Mykolayovych Hordiychuk and Biryukov Yevhen Andriyovych) were blown up by a landmine near Avdiivka, received numerous wounds and died on way to Krasnoarmiisk hospital. ATO Zone
Anti-Terrorist Operation Zone (), or ATO zone (), was a term used by the media, public, the government of Ukraine, and the OSCE and other foreign institutions to identify Ukrainian territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions (oblasts) under the control of Russian military forces and pro-Russian separatists. A significant part of ATO (JFO, starting 2018) zone was considered temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. In Minsk II protocols of 2015 it was referred to as 'certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions'. History On 20 February 2018, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko changed the status of the ATO zone from an anti-terrorist operation to "taking measures to ensure national security and defense, and repulsing and deterring the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts". Tornado Company (Ukraine)
"Tornado" Company is a company of the Special Tasks Patrol Police of Ukraine. It is widely known for a criminal case opened in connection with numerous serious crimes committed by personnel of the Ukrainian volunteer battalion Tornado during the War in Donbas. In the end, some volunteers from the Tornado battalion were found guilty of criminal charges (kidnappings, sexual assault, etc.) The main part of the company was disbanded in June 2015, however the personnel of the company not guilty of warcrimes continue to serve as the 4th Company of the Myrotvorets Battalion (Ukraine), Myrotvorets Battalion retaining the company name. The Kyivschyna Company is the 2nd company of the Myrotvorets Battalion of the Liut Brigade of the Special Tasks Patrol Police subordinated to Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. The regiment is currently based in Kyiv. It was established in 2014 and has, since then seen regular combat on the frontlines. History Following the Revolution of Dignity, 30 additional Special Purpose Police Patrol Units were established to counter the 2014 pro-Russian unrest in Ukraine. The size of the Kyivschyna Battalion was designated to be 200 people, volunteers aged 19 to 45, veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and former police officers. About 400 applications were submitted for the Battalion, of which 143 were accepted into the Battalion, volunteers from all over Ukraine. Pokrovsk (, ; ), formerly known as Krasnoarmiisk (until 2016) and Grishino (until 1934), is a city and the administrative center of Pokrovsk Raion in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. Avdiivka
Avdiivka (, ; , ) is a city in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. The city is located in the centre of the oblast, just north of the regional centre, Donetsk. The large Avdiivka Coke Plant is located in Avdiivka. The city had a population of before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but it was reported as 1,600 in October 2023, and then "just over 1,000", mostly living below ground level. Chasiv Yar
Chasiv Yar (, ) is a city in Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is located west of Bakhmut and is the center of Chasiv Yar urban hromada. In January 2022, it had a population of 12,250, though RBC News claimed the population in May 2024 had been reduced to 600 due to evacuations from Russian shelling and fighting within the city.
