Harmonium Art MuseuM
The Harmonium Art museuM (HAM) is a museum on pump organs in the province of Antwerp, Belgium. It is located at the former Church of the Immaculate Conception in Klein- Willebroek. The collection has been brought together by Ben Roemendael. In order to be able to show the organs to the public, he founded the museum. One can see free-reed and suction-reed organs. All instruments have been disassembled, cleaned and restored. There are eighty organs all together of which sixty can still be played on.GluseumHarmonium Art Museum The pump organs are originating from different countries. One suction-reed organ was built in 1872 in the United States and has two keyboards and a pipe top of Mason & Hamlin. Willebroek
Willebroek (, old spelling: ''Willebroeck'', also ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of , Heindonk, , Klein Willebroek, and Willebroek proper. In 2021, Willebroek had a total population of 27,081. The total area is 27.41 km2. Pump Organ
The pump organ or reed organ is a type of organ that uses free reed aerophone, free reeds to generate sound, with air passing over vibrating thin metal strips mounted in a frame. Types include the pressure-based harmonium, the suction reed organ (which employs a vacuum system), and the Indian harmonium. Jacques-Nicolas Lemmens
Jacques-Nicolas (Jaak-Nicolaas) Lemmens (3 January 1823 – 30 January 1881), was an organist, music teacher, and composer for his instrument. Biography Born at Zoerle-Parwijs, near Westerlo, Belgium, Lemmens took lessons from François-Joseph Fétis, who wanted to make him into a musician capable of renewing the organ-player's art in Belgium. Fétis sent him to Adolf Friedrich Hesse in Germany to learn Johann Sebastian Bach's tradition. In 1847, Lemmens won the Paris Conservatoire's prestigious ''Prix de Rome'' with his ''Le roi Lear'' ("King Lear"). One year later he published his first work for organ: ''Dix improvisations dans le style sévère et chantant'' ("Ten improvisations in a strict and singing style"). César Franck
César Auguste Jean Guillaume Hubert Franck (; 10 December 1822 – 8 November 1890) was a French Romantic music, Romantic composer, pianist, organist, and music teacher born in present-day Belgium. He was born in Liège (which at the time of his birth was part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands). He gave his first concerts there in 1834 and studied privately in Paris from 1835, where his teachers included Anton Reicha. After a brief return to Belgium, and a disastrous reception of an early oratorio ''Ruth'', he moved to Paris, where he married and embarked on a career as teacher and organist. He gained a reputation as a formidable musical improviser, and travelled widely within France to demonstrate new instruments built by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll.
