Harbour League
Harbour League were a franchise in the now defunct Bartercard Cup rugby league competition in New Zealand. They represented Aucklands North Shore City. They were formed in 2006 to take over from the Hibiscus Coast Raiders and the North Harbour Tigers due to the New Zealand Rugby League wishing to reduce the number of Auckland teams in favour of more regional sides. Notable players New Zealand Warriors associated with the club included: Louis Anderson and Tony Martin while other squad members included Jeremiah Pai, Kevin Locke and Kimi Uasi. 2006 season In 2006 Harbour League finished sixth on the table, missing out on a finals berth by one point. Tony Martin (Rugby League Footballer)
Tony Martin (born 7 October 1978) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who last played for Hull in the Super League. He previously played for Crusaders Rugby League and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the Super League. Martin moved back to England from New Zealand Warriors on 31 July 2007 after two spells with the London Broncos either side of a move to Australia with Melbourne Storm. Early life Martin played his junior rugby league for Gladstone Wallabies. He was one of seven Queensland juniors given scholarships by the London Broncos. Playing career Martin made his NRL debut for Melbourne Storm in Round 7 of the 1998 NRL season. He established himself as starting left centre inside winger Marcus Bai. Mount Smart Stadium, currently known as Go Media Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a multi-purpose stadium in the suburb of Penrose, Auckland, New Zealand. It is the main home ground of the New Zealand Warriors of the National Rugby League and Auckland FC of the A-League Men, and occasionally hosts rugby union and international rugby league matches. Built within the quarried remnants of the Rarotonga / Mount Smart volcanic cone, it is located 10 kilometres south of the city centre, in the suburb of Penrose. Auckland Lions
The Auckland Lions were a rugby league club that had teams in both the New Zealand Bartercard Cup and the NSWRL Premier League. They were mostly drawn from the Mt Albert Lions Rugby League club. Mt Albert had a proud tradition in Auckland and had previously won two Bartercard Cup competitions as a stand-alone club. The Bartercard franchise wore a yellow jersey with a blue V, while the Premier League side wore royal blue jerseys with a white V. In 2008 the Bartercard Cup was discontinued and the Auckland franchise in the New South Wales Cup was renamed the Auckland Vulcans. Jeremiah Pai is a New Zealand former professional rugby league footballer who plays for the Hibiscus Coast Raiders in the Sharman Cup (2024).
