Harald Thon
Harald Thon (1954 – 28 December 2019) was a Norwegian orienteering competitor who represented the club IF Sturla and the Norwegian national team. He was part of the Norwegian winning team in relay at the World Orienteering Championships in 1981 and 1983. Career Thon became Norwegian orienteering champion in relay with IF Sturla seven years in a row, in 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1985. He became Norwegian champion in the long distance in 1979 ( course length 23.3 kilometers, 22 controls), and again in 1980 (course length 27.0 kilometers, 25 controls). He was awarded ''Bjarne Bjerckes pokal'' for his results in the long distance national championships. He won an individual silver medal in the Norwegian championships in 1982 (course length 12.1 kilometers), behind Egil Iversen, and an individual bronze medal in 1983 (course length 13.3 kilometers). Øyvin Thon
Øyvin Thon (born 25 March 1958) is a Norway, Norwegian orienteering Competition, competitor, and has seven gold medals at the World Orienteering Championships. He is married to Brit Volden, also a World Orienteering Champion. Zalaegerszeg
Zalaegerszeg (; ; ; ) is the administrative center of Zala County, Zala county in western Hungary. Location Zalaegerszeg lies on the banks of the Zala River, close to the Slovenian and Austrian borders, and west-southwest of Budapest by road. History The area was already inhabited in the Upper Paleolithic, according to archaeological findings (the oldest ones in Zala county). Later, the area was inhabited by Celts. The first written mentions of the town are as ''Egerscug'' (1247) and ''Egerszeg'' (1293); the name means "alder-tree corner" and is probably a reference to the town's situation in the angle where two rivers meet. King Béla IV of Hungary, Béla IV donated the town to the diocese of Veszprém in 1266, so that it became Church property. The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) is the international governing body of the sport of orienteering. The IOF head office is located in Karlstad Municipality, Karlstad, Sweden. The IOF governs four orienteering disciplines: foot orienteering, mountain bike orienteering, ski orienteering, and trail orienteering.
