Hans Rott (orientalist)
Johann Nepomuk Karl Maria Rott (1 August 1858 – 25 June 1884) was an Austrian composer and organist. His music is little-known today, though he received high praise in his time from Gustav Mahler and Anton Bruckner. He left a symphony and ''Lieder'', among other works. Life Rott was born in Braunhirschengrund, a suburb of Vienna. His mother Maria Rosalia (1840–1872; née Lutz) was an actress and singer. His father Carl Mathias Rott, who married her in 1862 (born 1807; né Roth), was a famous comic actor in Vienna who was crippled in 1874 by a stage accident which led to his death two years later. Piarist Church, Vienna
The Piarist Church, also known as the Church of Maria Treu, is a Baroque parish church of the Order of the Piarists (''Patres Scholarum Piarum'') in Vienna, Austria. It is located in Vienna's 8th district (Josefstadt). The Piaristenkirche was elevated to the rank of Basilica Minor in 1949. The right tower has an approximate height of 42.8m as measured and calculated by the 5C class of the Piaristengymnasium in the school year of 2021/2022. Norrköping Symphony Orchestra
The Norrköping Symphony Orchestra ( sv, Norrköpings Symfoniorkester) is a Swedish professional symphony orchestra. It is based at the concert hall De Geerhallen, in the center of Norrköping. Dominik Wörner (born 1970) is a German classical bass singer in concert, Lied and opera. He is a specialist in Baroque music, especially works by Bach, but is open to music of other eras including contemporary music. Career Born in Grünstadt, Wörner studied music at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, in Fribourg, Bern and Zürich. He studied church music, voice and musicology, voice with Jakob Stämpfli and Lied with Irwin Gage. Mahler's First Symphony
The Symphony No. 1 in D major by Gustav Mahler was mainly composed between late 1887 and March 1888, though it incorporates music Mahler had composed for previous works. It was composed while Mahler was second conductor at the Leipzig Opera, Germany. Although in his letters Mahler almost always referred to the work as a symphony, the first two performances described it as a ''symphonic poem'' and as a ''tone poem in symphonic form'' respectively. The work was premièred at the Vigadó Concert Hall, Budapest, in 1889, but was not well received. Mahler made some major revisions for the second performance, given at Hamburg in October 1893; further alterations were made in the years prior to the first publication, in late 1898.
